Presented to a lovely standard with off-road parking, an enclosed garden and surrounding rural vistas, The Hollow invites families, couples and two dogs for a special break to Northumberland. After parking up in the off-road area, step through the front door into the lounge, featuring a sofa and an armchair placed in front of the Smart TV and woodburning stove, creating a homely ambiance for unwinding. Delight in home-cooking in the kitchen, making use of the electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and there’s even a washing machine so you can easily freshen up your wardrobe! Enjoy sunny days within the enclosed garden, relaxing at the patio furniture and entertaining into the night, before huddling by the firepit and roasting marshmallows. The bedrooms sit upstairs and offer a king-size and a double arrangement, each with oak furniture and serviced by a gleaming bathroom. The lovely village of West Woodburn lies amidst the deep Rede Valley and was once an important resting point in Roman times for travellers on route to Scotland from York. The village hosts a welcoming pub and a Post Office selling basic supplies, whilst visitors can also explore the remains of one of the outpost forts of Hadrian's Wall that passes nearby. The historic village Otterburn, with its world-famous Woollen Mill and Shop is just a short drive away and is popular with walkers and cyclists alike, whilst the nearby, beautiful Kielder Forest affords fantastic fishing, boating, horse riding and nature watching opportunities. The market town of Hexham is 20 miles away, plus the vibrant city of Newcastle upon Tyne just 35 miles away has the renowned Metro Shopping Centre and excellent night life. The welcome plaque and small welcome pack were greatly appreciated. The cottage location has an idyllic peaceful feel to it but only just over a mile from the A68 which was ideal to get to the local tourist attractions and villages (we topped up on groceries at Bellingham which also had a fab bakery and butchers) The cottage had everything we needed for our stay, the enclosed garden and quiet farm road were perfect for our pooch. We would highly recommend this accommodation and we look forward to our next visit which is already booked for next year.
