It sleeps four, is cosy and comfortable, well equipped, tastefully furnished and has a sheltered garden with garden furniture. Enter into a modern dining kitchen with clear views across the valley. The large sitting/dining room is comfortably furnished and has a recently renovated large inglenook with exposed stonework and woodburning stove. There are plenty of books, games, jigsaws, and DVD’s. The modern shower room has a walk-in shower cubicle, heated towel rail, dimplex wall heater and shaver point. A staircase leads to two bedrooms in the roof space, both with Velux windows and lovely country views. Upstairs you'll find a spacious super-king size bed and a well-appointed twin bedroom. This welcoming and comfortable cottage lies in glorious unspoilt countryside and is in easy reach of the splendid beaches of The Heritage Coastline. The picturesque, semi-detached, whinstone cottage dates from the 18th century, is surrounded by farmland and enjoys wonderful views across the Glendale valley towards the coast. It is found in a peaceful hamlet by the National Park boundary, a short distance from Wooler. Relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the cottage and its surroundings. Walk from the front door, there being many lovely local walks. Further away Cheviot and Hedgehope and the remote College Valley are all within a good day’s walk. St Cuthbert’s Way runs 1 mile west of the cottage. Make for the coast, walk along the miles of sandy beaches and explore Lindisfarne, Bamburgh and its castle, Seahouses and the Farne Islands, Craster and beyond. Explore inland and visit Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the new Lilidorei Experience, Rothbury, Cragside House, and the Simonside Hills and to the north the Border towns of Berwick upon Tweed, Coldstream, Kelso and Melrose. A little further afield, and in day reach, are Hadrian’s Wall, the Tyne Valley, Newcastle upon Tyne, Durham and Edinburgh. Stargaze on clear nights, as there is no light pollution in this wonderful part of the country. The market town of Wooler, is within easy walking distance and has a good range of shops along the High Street, also supermarkets, butchers, delicatessen, antique and vintage shops, post office, cafes, Milk Bar, restaurants and pubs, Library and Tourist Information Centre, Health centre. Ad Gefrin, our new whisky distillery and Anglo-Saxon History Centre opened in 2023. Enjoy pottering/shopping on the friendly High Street, well away from all the usual chain shops, take a coffee and sit and watch the world go by. Try Doddingtons’ cheeses and ice cream made locally and Tac n Bora Whisky and Thirlings Gin from the distillery. Horse riding, gliding and a golf course are all available. Scenic adventures are around every corner when you book a stay at Braeside.
Wooler is a delightful, historic market town on the banks of the River Till, one of the tributaries of the Tweed, nestling in the foothills of the Cheviots which form part of the Pennine Way. Known locally as 'The Gateway to The Cheviots', Wooler has a selection of hotels and eating places and offers a magnificent location for exploring the whole of Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Situated on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, Wooler is just a short drive away from the historic town of Alnwick with its famous Castle and Gardens, and the well preserved Garrison town of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Chillingham Castle with its ancient herd of wild white cattle and Coldstream, just over the Scottish border, are also a short drive away.
