About this property

Elton 2.1 miles. Step back in time and explore the wonders of this 700+ year old Grade 1 listed Manor house, just 18 minutes drive to Chester City Centre. Enclosed in a time capsule of exposed sandstone and oak timber work, once stayed in by King Edward I in 1277, this rare, incomparable find is not one to let pass by. Immerse yourself in medieval history with this beautifully restored building, making your stay unforgettable. Offering off-road parking for two cars and welcoming two well-behaved pets, this delightful home is perfect for families or groups of friends seeking a tranquil escape amidst picturesque surroundings. Park up the cars outside this former banqueting hall, once stayed in by King Edward I in 1277, from the outside the stone exterior is well maintained with the charming sash windows and greenery surrounding the door. Upon entering the property, climb the stairs to be greeted by two king size bedrooms, both with handmade oak headboards and authentic church pews. Hidden in one of the bedrooms, a secret passageway can be found, leading to original arrow slots and a fake skeleton to replicate a scene inside a medieval dungeon! The bathroom contains a rain shower and sunken whirlpool bath to relax after a busy day. Venture up to the second floor to discover the impressive open plan Kitchen/Dining room and Living room area. It includes stunning, high lofted ceilings with king post trusses. The three sandstone arched windows are unique only to this building and Caernarfon Castle in North Wales. This floor contains a bespoke kitchen with a spacious island and a medieval inspired dining table fit for kings, overlooked by a Templar knight. A cosy seating area, in which the sofa bed can be found, in front of a log burner. During your stay, you will be surrounded by historic replicas throughout the building.  Step outside to the enclosed patio, where you can enjoy the calmness of your surroundings. The patio is furnished and features a gravel area, providing a lovely spot for alfresco dining or simply relaxing with a good book. This charming retreat is sure to provide a memorable stay in the beautiful region of Cheshire. From your peaceful oasis, set off for all-ages fun at Chester Zoo, just a short drive away, where you can get up close and personal with a myriad of creatures from around the globe. If a thirst for adrenaline kicks in, The Crocky Trail promises a day of thrills with its innovative rides and outdoor adventure playground. For those momentous experiences, make sure to explore Strawberry Field, famously immortalised by The Beatles, whose magical aura continues to mesmerise visitors from all walks of life. Your Cheshire adventure begins and ends each day at the tranquil Monastery Hall.

The small peaceful village of Elton is situated in a superb elevated position on the White Peak Plateau, in the heart of the Peak District National Park. More than 900ft above sea level and with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside, the village is a popular centre for walkers, lying within a few miles of the Tissington and High Peak walking/cycling trails and The Limestone Way. Just 1 mile away is the pretty village of Winster, famous for its Morris dancers, Wakes festivities (every June) and annual Shrove Tuesday pancake race - a fascinating spectacle and well worth a visit!
