While some guests found the cottage and garden smaller than expected, the overall sentiment is positive, with many looking forward to returning.

Most guests found Shepherds Rest clean and tidy upon arrival, contributing to a comfortable stay. However, a few guests mentioned issues with cleanliness, such as pet hair and a musty smell, which suggests room for improvement in this area.

Guests generally find the cottage comfortable, with a cosy bed and well-furnished rooms. However, some guests noted that the furniture was excessive for the space available and the bed too soft, which affected their comfort.

The cottage is appreciated for its well-equipped kitchen and fast WiFi. Nonetheless, guests have suggested that the property could benefit from decluttering and updating some of the facilities, such as the fridge and bed, to enhance the overall experience.

The welcome basket and other gestures are frequently mentioned and appreciated by guests, indicating a high level of thoughtfulness. It is noted, however, that such gifts, while delightful, are subject to availability and not guaranteed for every stay.

It's ideally located in Appleby, which has everything you need for a stay.

The owner told me that I was supposed to keep the dogs in cages while they were in the house just in case they went on the furniture, which is absurd. Also some issues with Wi-Fi going down and water turned off one night and property was not ready when I arrived to check in at 3pm. The owner showed up on the middle Saturday of the stay, knocked on the door and then sat outside watching the house for several hours in case I left the house without the dogs, saying she had seen me on the street earlier without them (!)
