From here the spectacular views towards Great Asby Scar are truly mesmerising, forever changing with the weather and time of day. The historic market town of Appleby-in-Westmorland is a five-minute drive away with its many traditional shops, tea rooms and castle.Surrounded by rolling countryside, the cottage is perfectly located for walking, cycling or touring. The dramatic High Cup Nick in the North Pennines an AONB and the beautiful Rutter Force waterfall are nearby. The Lake District National Park and the magnificent Ullswater lake is just a thirty-minute drive away. The town of Appleby-in-Westmorland lies in a loop of the River Eden and is overlooked by the Pennine range with the Lake District Fells showing on the western horizon. Set at the heart of the Eden Valley, this is one of the loveliest towns in the north of England and was originally the county town of Westmorland. Appleby is nestled between the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales, so guests can enjoy the contrasting scenery of these two national parks, plus numerous walking and cycling opportunities as well as the fantastic leisure centre in the town.
