Your new-home-from-home provides easy access to all of the outdoor activities the Lakes has to offer, including fell walking, watersports, cycling and forest trails. The neighbouring village of Grizebeck offers a pub, petrol station and shop, and the charming village of Broughton-in-Furness is home to a Post Office, bakery, grocers and butchers together with two petrol stations, tourist information and three pubs. There are trails to suit all abilities including the Cumbria Coastal Way, Kirkby Moor, and also in the Duddon Valley, Broughton-In-Furness and Woodland areas. For a taste of the coast, dog-friendly beaches can be easily reached at Askam-in-Furness, Roanhead near Barrow-in-Furness and Haverigg near Millom. If you fancy exploring further up the coast of the Western Lakes you can enjoy Muncaster Castle, Ravenglass and Eskdale where you’ll find the La’al Ratty narrow gauge steam railway. Adventure awaits at Marsh Garth.

Kirkby-in-Furness is a collection of six hamlets on the Furness peninsula overlooking the Duddon estuary. The village is home to a general store and two pubs as well as a railway station on the Cumbrian Coast Line. East of Kirkby-in-Furness is the ancient market town of Ulverston which still holds a street market every Thursday and Saturday. Today it’s well known as a festival town with events throughout the year, including walking and art festivals in the summer months and the renowned Dickensian festival in late November. One of the town’s great claims to fame is as the birthplace of Stan Laurel - it is now home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world! Facilities include a wide range of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, a cinema and a leisure centre. All of the attractions of the National Park are easily reached and nearby family attractions include the World of Beatrix Potter, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, the South Lakes Wild Animal Park and Muncaster Castle.

We have a very lovely holiday. Our giant baby also made good connection to his new friends, the cow families. The environment and property facilities are perfect. If the fence can be upgraded and improved to stronger type, the pet owners will be more comfortable and relaxed to let their pets to make new friends with the cows.

The nearest place for a small shop is askham around 10minutes in the car the local pubs were all closed when we got there which was unfortunate however they do have limited opening times so better to check if your expecting pub grub on your first night.
