About this property

Boasting an abundance of rural charm, this delightful cottage on the outskirts of the Cumbrian village of Gamblesby is perfect for families who want to explore the Eden Valley and beyond. Whether you’re into walking or cycling, there is a wealth of routes or trails on your doorstep, with the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the east and the Lake District National Park to the south. Despite the quiet location, there is a local pub within a mile. One of four properties at this location, you can spend quality time with friends or family, whilst maintaining your own space and privacy. The village location is very quiet, with the main daily soundtrack consisting of birdsong, the odd tractor and an occasional passing herd of cows or sheep!

With exposed beams and stone walls, this property has plenty of character and rustic charm. On the ground floor, there are two well-presented bedrooms (a king-size and a twin) and a delightful shower room. Upstairs amongst the eaves, there’s a spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner where a wood burner will keep you warm and cosy on colder days. The kitchen has everything you’ll need to cook up meals and there’s plenty of room around the table for everyone. Outside, enjoy the sunshine in the shared courtyard with a coffee and a good book.

If you’re keen to explore the Northern Lakes, head to Pooley Bridge (15 miles), a village at the northern end of Ullswater with a range of eateries and the option to hop aboard a steamer. Further afield, you can visit stunning Derwentwater (27 miles) which can be accessed from the town of Keswick, also known as the ‘Adventure Capital’ of the Lakes. A short stroll from the town centre takes you out to Friar’s Crag which affords beautiful views across the lake. Other towns you may want to visit include Penrith (10.5 miles) or the larger county town of Carlisle (22 miles).
