About this property

Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life in this remote cottage on the Yorkshire/Cumbria border. The property sleeps two guests and is perfect for couples looking to embrace the great outdoors, with a choice of nearby walking routes both through The Dales and the fells of the Lake District. After a long walk, you’ll find a myriad of cosy pubs and restaurants in the towns of Hawes (8 miles) and Sedbergh (10 miles).

The period cottage offers a truly unique backdrop to your holiday. Original features, such as a striking exposed stone wall, sit alongside statement furniture, vibrant soft furnishings, and quirky artwork. The main living space is a bright and airy lounge/diner with a double-height ceiling and a fabulous spiral staircase taking centre stage. Relax here, after a day in The Dales, sharing a romantic dinner for two or snuggled up on the sofa in front of the cosy wood burner. Also on the ground floor is a separate kitchen and a refreshing shower room. Up the open-tread spiral staircase, on a mezzanine floor, is an inviting double bedroom with countryside views. Outside, enjoy your peaceful surroundings and dark skies in the enclosed garden.

The ancient market town of Sedbergh has an olde-worlde charm, with cobbled streets and historic buildings. The town is known for its fine collection of book shops, as well as its independent shops, boutiques, and galleries. Regular markets showcase local arts and crafts, and are also a great place to pick up fresh produce for your dinner. The cottage is a fantastic base for walkers, with long-distance routes such as the Dales Way and Pennine Way nearby, as well as challenging hikes in the Howgill Fells or Yorkshire’s Three Peaks (all within 15 miles).

Really enjoyed my stay, it is in a rural location, which I knew and loved.

Absolutely loved this cosy quaint cottage and surroundings. It was a perfect blend of tranquility and sheer beauty. Desperately needed a short break from busy palliative care caseload as a nurse and have come back to reality feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
