About this property

Get away from it all in this rural retreat in the Garsdale Valley, close to the Yorkshire/Cumbria border. The property sleeps four guests and is perfect for families and groups of friends looking to embrace nature, with a fabulous collection of local walks to explore both through the Yorkshire Dales and the fells of the Lake District. The historic market towns of Sedbergh and Hawes are within 10 miles, both of which have a great range of independent shops and eateries.

A step down takes you into the porch of this charming stone cottage. Kick off your muddy walking boots, before heading through to the open-plan living space. The cosy lounge area boasts plush sofas to sink into after a long walk, a wood burner, and large windows framing magnificent countryside views. A couple of steps down from here take you to the kitchen/diner, which has everything you need for a self-catering break and a table to seat everyone. Also on the ground floor is a delightful double bedroom, a family bathroom, and a utility room. The second bedroom is upstairs, along with a reading room and a handy shower room. The attractive cottage garden is enclosed and has a picnic bench where you can sip a morning coffee and admire the breathtaking scenery.

The picturesque market town of Hawes is 8 miles away. The town is home to the Wensleydale Creamery, and you can take a tour here and sample the famous cheese. Hawes holds a weekly farmers’ market where you can pick up delicious local produce. The town is also the starting point for several walks, including the route to Hardraw Force, England’s largest single drop waterfall. Other popular walks in the area include the Pennine Way, Yorkshire’s Three Peaks, and Howgill Fells (all within 15 miles of the cottage).
