The town, which was mentioned in the Domesday Book, has a thriving centre which enjoys a weekly market on the high street, along with numerous specialist shops, popular pubs and wine bars. Just outside the Bears Paw pub in the centre of Frodsham marks the start of the Sandstone Trail, which stretches for 34 miles past Delamere Forest and on into Whitchurch, in Shropshire. The River Weaver offers towpath walks, which allow you to visit Dutton Locks, plus the famous Anderton Boat Lift further on. For the more enthusiastic walker, the North Cheshire Way stretches for 70 miles from the Wirral to the Peak District.
