Ash Meadows in Carnforth is a well-received holiday cottage, praised for its modernity, cleanliness, and comfort. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches and the property's location, which provides easy access to enjoyable days out. While some minor maintenance issues were noted, the overall experience is reported to be very positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Guests consistently note the property's exceptional cleanliness, with one review highlighting that everything looked fresh and new, without a speck of dust.

The location is praised for being lovely and well-placed for exploring nearby towns and the Lake District, though one review mentioned a security light issue which affected their sleep.

The property is described as comfortable and spacious, with a well-equipped bathroom and comfortable beds, although there were comments about noisy stairs and floorboards.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, especially the range of kitchen equipment. However, points are deducted for reported maintenance issues such as a non-functioning extractor fan, problematic sink plug, and a security light.

While reviews indicate that the property owners are thoughtful in making guests feel welcome and comfortable, there is no specific mention of gifts, and therefore this category cannot be scored.

About this property

Tucked away on the outskirts of Kirkby Lonsdale, a charming town on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park lies the lovely, two-bedroom holiday home of Ash Meadows. Boasting off-road parking for two cars, a collection of well-presented interiors, and a superb location surrounded by national parks and two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this wonderful retreat welcomes a family or group of four friends sharing to enjoy a relaxing, self-catered escape in Cumbria. Park up, unpack, and make yourself comfortable in your new lodgings, where a well-appointed, open-plan living space featuring a fully-equipped kitchen invites you and your loved ones to prepare delicious, home-cooked meals that can be savoured around the dining table. A plush sitting area complete with a Smart TV makes for an idyllic spot to unwind in the evenings, whilst an outdoor patio with seating accommodates alfresco dining on sunny days. When sleep calls, be sure to refresh with a rejuvenating shower or an indulgent bath before you head for a well-earned rest in either a quaint, mezzanine-style king bed or a tastefully-laid out, ground-floor twin, both accompanied by their own Smart TVs. If you fancy exploring your local area, jump in the car and head west into Kirkby Lonsdale, where you can stock up on essentials at the convenience store or the Booths Supermarket on your way to tucking into a hearty pub lunch at The Snooty Fox or The Orange Tree. Whilst in town, you can also stop by the historic Radical Steps, the scenic point of Devil's Bridge, as well as the calming stretch of the River Lune. For a full day out, head into the Yorkshire Dales National Park and discover iconic natural landmarks such as Gastack Beck Waterfall, Middle Falls, Ingleborough Cave, and Malham Cove. All of this and so much more is yours to enjoy when you book Ash Meadows.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country".

Good location to explore the lakes and further afield. There were a couple of lights not working in cottage, the standing lamp in living room and kitchen lights . ( Maybe I just couldn't find that particular switch) But nothing major.will definitely be back at some point .

Set in a complex next to a gym and spa it would have been nice to know in advance that we could use the facilities albeit on an ad hoc basis. Very well equipped, exceptionally clean and peaceful. Well placed for lots of interesting towns and villages we liked Settle and Skipton. The Bank in K.L. is a must.....go there first and learn about the town from earlier generations. A great experience to whet your appetite before a walk around the town. Ruskin's View on a sunny day is not to be missed!
