Tyee Cottage is generally praised for its charm, cosiness, and suitability as a base for exploring the area. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge, and the thoughtful touch of a welcome card. Some concerns were raised about cleanliness, noise from nearby construction, and the accuracy of the listing regarding amenities and local services.
Most guests found the cottage clean and of a good standard, though there were isolated reports of hygiene issues such as crumbs, dirty utensils, and cobwebs, suggesting room for improvement.
The cottage's location is well-regarded for its proximity to local amenities and as a base for exploring the Lakes. However, some guests noted the busy road and lack of garden, which may affect those with children or pets.
Guests frequently mentioned the cottage's cosy and comfortable interior, with a warm lounge and comfortable beds. However, there were suggestions for larger towels and alternative pillow options.
While the cottage is praised for its well-equipped kitchen and lounge, there are mixed reports about maintenance issues such as non-working lights and a small TV. The absence of a washing machine and the presence of construction work also affected guests' experiences.
The owners' thoughtfulness is highlighted by the welcome card and the provision of information packs, although the placement of these packs could be more prominent. No gifts were mentioned, so the score reflects the overall thoughtfulness in the cottage's presentation.

The owner contacted us to advise there would be some building work going on and hoped we wouldn't experience too much disruption however this wasn't the case. Scaffolders arrived at 8.30am on our first morning - so that was when the shouting/swearing/radio started. We were contacted by the company regarding an alternative and told that someone would contact us later with options but they didn't. The following mornings were not any better with contractors arriving before 8am, parking one of their vehicles across the front door and started hammering on the property. The property is fine if you just want a no frills base however seems quite tired - dishwasher is pure guesswork, a few basic hygiene issues - crumbs on the worktop, dirty utensils, not all pillows had protectors, shower would benefit from deep clean, rubbish in bins, etc - surprising considering the literature advises this has been a holiday let for years.

Massive cobwebs hanging down in kitchen. TV needs to be bigger it gives a feel of being cheap with it being so small. The pub was shutdown/not open and the same for the butchers and this was in the brochure so not strictly true and needs changing for any future holiday makers. All this being said it was a lovely stay in a lovely little cottage.
