There were a couple of issues, which probably only apply when there are 6 adults staying. There were only 4 dining room chairs. We had to go out and get 2 of the patio chairs and give them a clean down so all of us could sit down to dinner at the same time. I realise there were 2 bar stools but not many people in their 60s want to perch on a bar stool. There was also a major issue of space at the dining table. The other issue was with the mattress in the room without an en suite but with a wardrobe. It was very soft, I suspect quite old, and we continually collided in the night as we rolled together. I didn't complain about either of these issues as I figured there was nothing to be done that week, but I think a couple more chairs and a new mattress would be a good idea. We also had an issue with the door lock which was fixed promptly.

However, may we please suggest a handrail is put into that shower for those who are unsteady on their feet? Notwithstanding this the property is perfect for the less able bodied or wheelchair users. Yes we would go again but we'd avoid the corner bedroom (or take ear plugs) as not only were the walls paper thin & we could easily hear the lowest of conversations from the main bedroom, but the water noise from the main bathroom next door was surprisingly loud when someone ran the taps/shower. The owner kindly replaced the missing casserole dishes & other bits that we are used to finding in self catering accommodation which we were grateful for. Overall very good, spacious and warm. Sykes, can you please explain why my review of Dirreen House Athea is on your website when I booked it through Hogans?
