Guests say

Guests consistently praise Damson Cottage for its welcoming atmosphere, cleanliness, and the thoughtful touches like welcome baskets and a wood burning stove. The location is appreciated for its beautiful surroundings and proximity to local attractions and eateries. The cottage is described as comfortable and well-equipped, making it a cosy retreat for families and couples alike.

Reviewers frequently mention the cottage's spotless condition, indicating high standards of cleanliness that contribute to the welcoming atmosphere of the property.

The cottage's location is highly regarded for its pleasant village setting, nearby pubs and restaurants, and the availability of lovely walks and views, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.

Comfort is highlighted with mentions of a cosy wood burning stove, comfortable beds, and a homely feel. However, a few guests felt that the luxury aspect was not on par with other rural retreats, citing thin duvets and towels.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen, games for children, and a wood burner. Some minor feedback suggests room for improvement in the luxury feel and maintenance of the games room.

The hosts are commended for their thoughtfulness, particularly for the welcome baskets and extras like a train set for children. While these gestures are greatly appreciated, it is noted that such personal touches, though likely, are not guaranteed.

About this property

This fine cottage offers comfortable living in a historic setting, next to the former Cheshire Hunt Inn from which the Hunt used to ride. It enjoys wonderful country views and is in walking distance of the old mill village of Bollington.

Damson Cottage is one of two Cheshire Hunt holiday cottages in Rainow on the Cheshire border. Damson and Orchard Cottage are the result of a barn conversion completed in 2008. The original building dating back to the 1850's is situated next to a local landmark, the former Cheshire Hunt Inn from which the Hunt used to ride. The cottages have their own separate facilities but are available for hire together for extended family holidays to accommodate 11 guests for larger family groups.

Described by the Peak District Authority as a property of architectural interest, the barn is located on a small track, which winds its way up through the valley, forming part of the well-known walkers' path, the Gritstone Trail. The luxury self-catering retreat has been individually furnished and has its own unique character. Enjoying wonderful views over the open countryside, the cottage is within walking distance of the old mill village of Bollington, with its pubs, restaurants, local shops and parks.
