Guests consistently praise the cottage for its cleanliness, high-quality fixtures, and peaceful location, ideal for exploring the Peak District. The welcoming touches, including wine and cakes, contribute to a homely and comfortable stay. Some minor issues with the shower and heating controls were noted, but overall, the property is highly regarded for its charm and amenities.
Reviewers frequently mention the property being spotlessly clean, indicating a very high standard of cleanliness that contributes positively to their overall experience.
The property is celebrated for its peaceful location, close to walking trails and the beauty of the Peak District, although one comment about difficulty finding it in the dark suggests slight room for improvement.
The comfort of the cottage is well-received, with mentions of a cosy atmosphere and a comfortable bed. However, a few guests noted issues with the heating and cold stone floors, slightly affecting the comfort score.
Facilities are generally praised, especially for home cooking, but there are several remarks about the shower and heating controls that suggest some maintenance could enhance the guest experience.
Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches like wine and cakes, which add to the welcoming feel of the cottage. While these gifts are warmly received, it's important to note that such extras, while delightful, are subject to availability and not guaranteed.
A beautiful barn conversion with superb decor and furnishings.
A luxurious barn conversion set alongside the old farm house in its own secret valley surrounded by lovely countryside. Refurbished with designer décor and furniture, quality and class flows easily through the cottage into every room. With a lovely lounge, dining area, really well equipped kitchen, king-size bedroom and super walk in shower room this is just a superb little holiday retreat.
The High Peak Trail is nearby and a must if you enjoy walking or cycling. Between the market town of Ashbourne and historic Wirksworth with its leadmining origins, you’ll have plenty of interesting places and attractions to visit. Wirksworth’s is a good place to start with its heritage railway and heritage trail, Northern Lights little cinema, range of friendly pubs and a brilliant restaurant. Majestic Chatsworth House and historic Haddon Hall are just up the Derwent Valley, or pass through Bakewell, famous for its 'Puddings' and explore the real Peaks, with glorious views, sparkling rivers and beautiful villages.

Dr Horton
An excellent cottage for two, well equipped and definitely off grid. It has all mod cons and is very cosy. The bed is huge (double queen) and very comfortable, something that is a problem with many rentals - not here. To get away from the world, it is ideal and the sky is dark so skywatching is ideal provided it is warm and clear. One of the best we have stayed in.
Mr Austin
Really beautiful bungalow set in glorious countryside. Extremely clean and well looked after. Would of given top marks for equipment except for the shower floor. The shower itself is brilliant but the wet floor idea is very poor! The water just doesn't drain away and consequently the whole bathroom floods to literally 1 inch deep. The water even reached under the washing machine! It then takes an age to drain away and it is then impossible for someone else to use the toilet or have a shave. Recommend that the outflow is improved, a proper shower tray installed and a proper side and door installed. 9.5 out of 10 for the rest of the bungalow. I've clicked on no for recommendation purely because of the shower.

My review is the same as the one I did yesterday (14 May 24) for New Harborough Farm, apart from one key point for the bungalow. The shower room needs sorting out. The shower works well but there's not sufficient glass or surround and so it floods about 1/3 of the floor, which then stays wet for hours. That's even when you turn the shower off to shampoo/soap and direct it into the furthest corner!! Other than that excellent.
