Guests have had a delightful experience at Cuckoo, praising its cosy atmosphere, welcoming touches such as a tray with tea and sweets, and the added luxury of a swimming pool and games room. The location is ideal, with the town of Bakewell nearby, and the property is well-equipped for a comfortable stay. While there are some maintenance issues noted, the overall sentiment is positive with guests looking forward to returning.
Unfortunately we’ve been unable assess this category comprehensively enough based on the reviews we’ve received from guests about this property.
The location is frequently described as perfect, with close proximity to the town yet far enough for tranquillity. However, some guests experienced difficulty finding the property due to unclear directions, slightly impacting the score.
Guests found the beds comfortable and the cottage homely, contributing to a restful stay. However, there were minor comments about maintenance issues that could affect comfort, such as a broken sofa cushion zip.
The swimming pool and games room are highlights, though some guests suggest they could benefit from renovation. Maintenance issues like loose fittings and boiler problems were mentioned, indicating room for improvement.
The welcome tray with tea, biscuits, and sweets for children was appreciated, showing thoughtfulness. However, it should be noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

A quaint little market town with a charming rural feel that offers a nice assortment of stores, eateries, and bars in addition to regional farmers markets. The town's historic market hall dates back to the 17th century, and a contemporary recreation facility with a pool is close by. In the Peak District National Park, Bakewell is conveniently located for visiting this stunning area. Within reasonable driving distance are Britain's top theme park, Alton Towers, as well as the rocky Black Peak and the softer limestone White Peak. The spectacular caverns in neighbouring Castleton and Little John's burial site in Hathersage are both well worth a visit, as are the other stately homes to be visited, including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, and Hardwick Hall to name a few.
