Guests say

Haddon Cottage is praised for its stunning location in the Peak District, ideal for exploring local attractions and enjoying the countryside. Guests appreciate the property's cleanliness and the presence of animals, which adds to the charm. Some concerns about comfort and maintenance are noted, yet the cottage's suitability for pets and families is a plus.

The cottage is generally found to be clean, though some guests mentioned the presence of flies and a smell of damp in the bathroom. Overall, the standard of cleanliness seems satisfactory for most visitors.

The location is highly praised for its beauty and convenience for exploring the Peak District, Bakewell, and other local areas. The proximity to attractions and the natural setting are significant positives.

Mixed reviews on comfort, with some guests finding the beds uncomfortable and issues with noise. However, the property is deemed toddler-friendly and suitable for pets, which adds to its comfort for certain guests.

Facilities are adequate but several guests noted the need for refurbishment, particularly in the bathroom. Issues with electrics and kitchen utensils were also mentioned, suggesting room for improvement.

While a welcome basket with tea, coffee, and biscuits was appreciated, there are not enough reviews mentioning such gestures to accurately score thoughtfulness. It should be noted that such amenities are a kind touch but not guaranteed.

The setting is stunning and we enjoyed our one way conversations with the alpacas! Our only gripe was that we found the beds to be somewhat uncomfortable as they were very hard.

We had our 16 month old with us and found the cottage to be very toddler friendly (no sharp corners etc). We did bring our own cot and highchair but found a highchair in the games room too if you didn’t want to bring your own. Nice shared gardens and also saw some goats and alpacas which the little one enjoyed. A great base for going to Chatsworth. We would come again!

The electrics also need to be addressed due to the fact when you put cooker on the lights dimmed and as you turned more appliances on the lights dimmed even more. The place was full of flys especially in the windows and on the ceilings, especially as we were in October and i know the cowshed was directly in front of the property but even still…..The walls looked as if they had damp especially to the front of the property. The cottages were in an excellent spot to use as a jumping off point and the views were breathtaking.Teddy our dog even loved to see the goats every morning and evening. The kitchen utensils were something to be desired as we used more out of our campervan as there weren’t enough in the kitchen. We wouldn’t recommend this cottage to be honest.
