Snaptrip says

Rose Cottage in the Peak District is highly praised for its cleanliness, idyllic location, and comfort. Guests appreciate the well-stocked kitchen, the tranquil garden, and the thoughtful welcome packs. While some mention the lack of Wi-Fi and the slipperiness of the stairs, the overall sentiment is one of satisfaction, with many keen to return.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Guests consistently note the spotless condition of the cottage, indicating a high standard of cleanliness. The property is frequently described as immaculate, which reflects meticulous upkeep by the owners.

The cottage's location is celebrated for its peacefulness and proximity to walking paths and local attractions. Some difficulty finding the property via Sat Nav is mentioned, but overall, the setting is considered a highlight.

The cottage is often described as comfortable and homely, with a well-received wood burner and underfloor heating. However, a few guests mention the small size of the master bedroom and the slipperiness of the stairs, which slightly affects the comfort score.

Facilities are generally praised, especially the well-equipped kitchen and the inclusion of games and books. The lack of Wi-Fi is noted, but it does not significantly detract from the overall positive feedback on the cottage's amenities.

The owners are commended for their thoughtfulness, particularly regarding the welcome packs. While these gifts are warmly received and contribute to the positive experience, it is politely noted that such extras are a courtesy and not guaranteed.

About this property

An absolutely delightful cottage, set five miles from the popular town of Bakewell, on the edge of the pretty Peak District village of Middleton-by-Youlgreave. Accessed through a little garden gate, via the front patio, guests will enter into the characterful kitchen, which is very well equipped and light and bright with its high ceilings. The kitchen also boasts the added benefit of a breakfast bar and cosy heating underfoot, making it warm and welcoming. Two steps lead down to the cosy sitting room, with the focal point of a cream woodburning stove, the perfect accompaniment for cooler evenings. This room is also very tastefully designed with a unique blend of contemporary and retro features. From the sitting room, the dining room leads on nicely, with its large table where you can enjoy time together arranging activities for the days to come, or discussing the events of the day over a traditional family board game. A bathroom completes the ground floor, and then upstairs are two bedrooms, both individually styled in keeping with the rest of the cottage. Outside, the garden areas are a delight with two patios to choose from to the back of the cottage, and then to the front and side you’ll find a further patio and small lawned area. Opposite the property is a working farm, and the lovely little village of Middleton-by-Youlgreave is a delight to wander through, surrounded by a network of footpaths criss-crossing this beautiful part of Derbyshire. Within a short drive is the lovely little market town of Bakewell, with its wonderful choice of shops and eateries, and a traditional market every Monday. A visit to the majestic Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall should not be missed, both within easy reach. This is a beautiful little cottage for a small family or a couple looking for a rural village escape with a little bit of luxury.

Middleton by Youlgreave is a small, quiet and secluded village situated in lovely rolling countryside above the River Bradford. The village centre consists of an old square and a village green with a Second World War memorial. The area is situated within the Peak District National Park and ideally placed for exploring this beautiful region.

Welcome pack of a high standard with bread, milk, eggs and flapjacks. This was our second stay and cannot imagine that we won't be back annually.

It was a beautiful house inside and out. It was very well equipped and the flapjacks were amazing. The peacocks were stunning

The kitchen had almost everything we needed and was clearly well thought out- the only thing we couldn’t find was a grill to go on the tray for grilling but we improvised. Very comfortable throughout, although the double mattress in the main room didn’t seem very breathable, or maybe it was the thick duvet so it got quite hot at night. Lots of games and dvds for the whole family and the kids loved the books. Plus there is a great playground 1 minute down the road! Fun to see peacocks in the front yard parading, but they did so on our car roof at times so you might want to consider a car cover to protect the paint work.
