Guests say

Cavendish Cottage in Matlock is highly praised for its immaculate cleanliness, stunning views, and well-equipped facilities. Guests appreciate the comfortable furnishings, tasteful decoration, and thoughtful touches like welcome packs. Its location is ideal for exploring the Peak District, despite the steep walk back from town. The property is dog-friendly, with secure gardens and nearby open spaces.

Reviewers consistently mention the cottage's immaculate condition, with several noting it as spotlessly clean and fresh. The high standard of cleanliness contributes significantly to the positive experiences of guests.

The location is celebrated for its stunning views and proximity to local attractions. However, some guests note the steep climb to the property from the town centre, which may be challenging for some, slightly impacting the score.

Guests frequently commend the comfort of the cottage, mentioning comfortable beds and a homely feel. There is a single mention of an uncomfortable settee, but this appears to be an isolated view.

The property is lauded for its well-equipped kitchen, high-quality fixtures, and generous welcome pack. The mention of a secure garden and the provision of a cot and high chair also indicate well-maintained facilities. A few minor suggestions for improvement prevent a perfect score.

Many reviewers express gratitude for the thoughtful extras, such as welcome packs with treats for both guests and dogs. While these gifts are greatly appreciated, it is important to note that such extras, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

    A real little gem

Only slight drawback is it is at the top of Matlock and to walk into town would have been hard work so drove down. Would stay again.

The garden was very nice and very secure. I could confidently let my dog out knowing that he would not be able to escape! The only negative I would say is the location of the property if you were to travel by bus or train as it is up at the top of a huge mile long hill. You really need your car,I almost considered not travelling by car - good job I did! But,Absolutely beautiful otherwise and the views were great.
