This charming, 16th-century barn conversion sits in the unspoilt village of Brassington, amidst the beautiful scenery of the Peak District. Many original features are retained, while at the same time the barn is equipped with all you could need for a week long break, Dragon Hill Barn is perfect for families looking to get away from everyday life. After a day of exploring, settle down in the sitting room using the starter pack of logs to get the woodburner going, whilst the rest of group decide on a film from the Smart TV. Those budding chefs can get to work in the kitchen, finished with granite worktops and all the mods and cons required to whip up a hearty feast. Serve dinner at the dining table or make the most of a warm evening by dining alfresco style at the outdoor furniture. Showcasing real quality, the bedrooms have been wonderfully furnished with ample storage space and fresh linen, serviced by a contemporary shower room where you can pamper yourself each morning. Get to know the local area as you wander through Brassington, offering two pubs, The Miners Arms and Ye Olde Gate Inn, both serving food and a selection of ales, while there is also a beautiful Norman church, historic streets and a children’s play area. Head to Carstington Water where you can try your hand a range of watersports, or if you’d prefer to stay on land, the whole area is a walker's paradises with fantastic walking and cycling trails all around, including the High Peak Trail, a 17 mile bridleway which runs from Dowlow to Cromford. Alternatively, head north to one of the country’s first tourist destinations, Matlock Bath, boasting charming character and interest that has impressed visitors for centuries. Offering both a relaxing escape with plenty of adventure in the area, look forward to a stay at Dragon Hill Barn.
Brassington, a lovely and unspoilt conservation community on the boundaries of the Peak District National Park in the midst of glorious open countryside, is positioned on a hillside. It's a classic Peaks limestone village with several 17th and 18th century dwellings. There are two pubs in the area (both of which serve superb food), and Matlock, Ashbourne, and Bakewell are all nearby. Carsington Water, which covers 750 acres and offers some of the best sailing in the country, is close by. Boating, biking, and windsurfing are also available, as well as stores, a restaurant, and a children's adventure playground. The Peak District is easily accessible from here.

So comfortable and the owner has put a lot of thought and care into the place. Itâs warm and cosy with the woodburner lit, and that also adds extra warmth upstairs to the already efficient heating. Thereâs 2 lovely pubs very close by, both serving great food. The Miners Arms is just one minute across the road, and the owners and locals made us feel so welcomed. The village location makes it easy to get around the Peak District. Weâd definitely recommend this cottage.

The owner had provided a starter pack to make you welcome which was quickly used and enjoyed after a good drive down. It was very comfortable for the three of us and would easily accommodate four with plenty of hot water and everything you need in the kitchen to cook a meal if required. We fell lucky for some very good weather so the outside terrace although not big was ample for relaxing with a glass of wine. We did not require the electric heating but lit the wood burner one night for a cosy cuddle. I would highly recommend the barn.

Would definitely stay here again.
