Guests say

Hallbrook Cottage is a charming and cosy property, praised for its comfortable beds, powerful shower, and pet-friendly amenities. Guests enjoyed the beautiful garden, scenic walks, and the helpfulness of the neighbour. While some noted traffic noise and minor maintenance issues, the overall experience was positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

The majority of guests found the cottage clean and well-presented, with comfortable beds and fluffy towels. However, a few guests mentioned issues such as a musty smell and fleas, which slightly affected the overall cleanliness score.

The cottage's location is central for exploring the Derbyshire countryside, with easy access to local walks and attractions. However, some guests were disturbed by traffic noise, particularly in the front bedroom, which impacts the location score.

Guests found the cottage to be very comfortable, with a cosy dining room and a snug feeling during snowy weather. The presence of traffic noise and a non-enclosed garden for pets were minor discomforts for some.

While the reviews mention a well-equipped kitchen, powerful shower, and good Wi-Fi, there are recurring comments about maintenance issues such as difficulty with the fireplace and front door lock. Due to these mixed reports, a precise score cannot be provided.

The cottage is appreciated for thoughtful touches like dog bowls, tea/coffee/sugar, and a secret freezer. A neighbour's recommendation for a shaded walk was also well-received. While some guests left gifts, it is important to note that such gestures are acts of kindness and not guaranteed.

Beds were really comfortable lovely fresh white linen! Weather was against us but still thoroughly enjoyed the break, a pleasure to meet David next door who was charming and very helpful on the area, (one of our dogs fell in love with him and searched him out daily

Bed was comfy and the dining room was a cosy room to eat in. The pub that was along the road was closed for winter which was a bit of a shame as it meant we then had to cook or drive out somewhere for dinner. No salt/pepper available so we had unseasoned dinner as we had expected there would be that in the house. Living room fire place really hard to turn on even with the instructions. Took us around 45 mins on the first night, then about 15 on the other nights. Shower was great and powerful but it doesn’t drain well so worried about overflow during the shower. Front door quite difficult to lock from both inside and outside. Once got the nack it was easier but same person had to do it throughout the stay. Overall had a really lovely time

... Stayed for 5 days in August and although the cottage is welcoming there is a problem for anyone sleeping in the front bedroom! At about 5am each morning HGVs & general traffic start coming past - the noise & headlights will wake anybody who is not a heavy sleeper (perhaps the clue is in the name "Main Road!") Also we discovered we had been bitten by fleas - maybe a deep clean would help. On the plus side we have left some Magnums in the secret freezer under the stairs!
