This delightfully renovated 18th century stone cottage offers the ultimate home-away-from-home in the heart of the charming market town of Matlock. The cottage has been

lovingly renovated to blend modern comforts with rustic charm, with idyllic views of Riber

Castle to enjoy.

A gated, gravel driveway provides ample secure parking for 2 vehicles. Visitors will be

instantly enchanted by the cottage garden, with blooming rambling roses and climbing

wisteria covered facade. A stone flagged patio with original well feature provides an

enclosed seating area – the perfect spot for morning coffee while taking in the view of the

castle.

Entering the property, you will find a cosy sitting room with magnificent, exposed oak

beams and a Derbyshire stone fireplace with log burning stove. Perfect for curling up with

a book and relaxing or just enjoying with family or friends by the glowing fire after exploring

the area. The luxurious feature of underfloor heating also warms the wooden floors!

The sperate dining room with sash window and working original shutters, provides an

elegant space for celebratory meals. Built in bookshelves, a curated library, games and

colouring books help to create a homely atmosphere. While DVD’s and the Smart TV’s can

appliances, with heated porcelain floors. Every pot, pan and gadget you could need is at

hand, along with a welcome basket of wine and goodies on your arrival. Patio doors lead to

another flag stone patio, with dining set and Gas BBQ, bordered with lavender and grasses,

an ideal spot to dine al-fresco on warmer days.

A convenient downstair toilet and laundry room leads to a further enclosed cottage

courtyard with log store, washing line and bike store.

Upstairs, three beautifully appointed bedrooms await. The Master has exposed beams

crisscrossing below the vaulted ceiling, with super-king feature bed and sunny window

seat. Bedrooms two and three also indulge in luxury comforts with thoughtful ideas, such

as hairdryers and children's books and magazines.

The main bathroom includes, walk in rain shower, soaking tub and luxury bath products.

No detail has been overlooked by the devoted owners who have thought of everything to

make your stay as comfortable and restful as possible. You’ll wake refreshed each day

ready to explore the local sites.

While staying at this splendid cottage you’re a step away from the Red Lion Pub and

Microbrewery with beer garden, a delicious chip shop and a newsagent. A short stroll

takes you to the amenities of Matlock, where you will find specialty shops, cafes, pubs and

restaurants. The popular Hall Leys Park forms its centre, surrounded by steep scenic

hillsides. Here you will find riverside paths to wander, rose gardens to enjoy, a duck and

boating lake, tennis courts, children's play areas and splash park. The park holds many

festivals and fairs throughout the summer and wonderful festive Christmas Markets in the

winter.

You could always set out on one of the endless walking trails winding through the crags

and crevasses of the glorious Derbyshire countryside.

A highlight could be to visit the grand estate of Chatsworth House, picnicking in the regal

grounds or losing yourself in Haddon Halls historic walls.

The town of Matlock has been attracting visitors to the area since the late 17th century. Set in the wooded gorge of the River Derwent, Matlock offers shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. Views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car which takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham – a place with its showcaves, nature trail, water gardens and Owl Maze. South of the town is the High Peak Cycle Trail, a short drive away is the National Tramway Museum at Crich. To the north are the market town of Bakewell and Chatsworth House and Park - not to be missed!

    Furnishings, bed linen and towels are of a high quality. Extremely clean, neat and tidy. Owner has thought of everything you could possible need and the welcome hamper is the best one we have ever come across - very generous. Easy walking to all the shops, restuarants and pubs.
