The eight thermal springs in Buxton have a constant temperature of 28 degrees centigrade, which is what first drew the Romans to the area. The beautiful semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens, and The Opera House were all conceived and constructed during the 18th and 19th centuries, though, under the patronage of succeeding Dukes of Devonshire. These spectacular structures and grounds, as well as the Opera House's full schedule and yearly festivals of music and the arts, are still enjoyed by visitors today. With rocky peaks to the north and mild slopes and dales to the south, the area is well-suited for walking. Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton, and Edale are just a few of the charming towns and villages that can be found there.

It was clean and the beds were very comfortable. A towel rail stand, hair drier and extension lead in the bedroom near to the bathroom would be very helpful. There was no dishwasher or instructions how to use appliances and the tv had no aerial so no BBC or ITV channels. The main reason we would not recommend the property was the parking which was not available when we arrived and it was concerning the allocated space would not be available when we returned each day and to turn the car around to join the High Street was very difficult in such a limited space. The view from the house was looking at a broken down car ( with flashing hazard lights)and a row of bins so sadly not very pleasing.

. Cons... No Freeview TV, supplied frying pans were not induction type so couldn't be used. Shared outside area commercial Red bin overflowing & general mess. Floor area only has now been cleared.

Patio and garden furniture advertised but no evidence of either. Disappointing on arrival as cooker and bathroom extractor fan were not working. No TV signal. Large mirrors were left on the floor instead of being hung on walls where they could be seen. This was our first experience through Sykes and was short of expectations considering the price.
