About this property

Nestled on the outskirts of the historic town of Buxton, encapsulated by the Peak District National Park is the stone-built Shenton Terrace. This wonderful, dog-friendly holiday home benefits from a welcoming interior completed with two well-appointed bedrooms, a rear garden with hot tub and a fabulous setting close to local amenities and the wonders of the Peak District; a perfect choice for families or friends looking for a getaway with their beloved canine companions. Cross the threshold into your new home-from-home where the gentle crackle of the woodburning stove greets you, unwind on the plush sofas here in front of the Smart TV while the designated chef of the group makes themselves at home in the fully-equipped kitchen. Sample their culinary creations around the dining table or step outside to indulge in an alfresco affair before jumping into the bubbling hot tub to admire the stars as they fill. When the sky darkens, head inside to wash off the day’s adventures in the either of the shower rooms before sloping off to sleep in the super-king-size (zip/link) or the double; there is also a sofa bed in the second-floor snug for an additional guest or flexible sleeping arrangements. Make unforgettable memories at Shenton Terrace. Note: This property can be booked with Ref. 989696, together sleeping up to 8 guests.

The Romans were initially drawn to Buxton because of its eight thermal springs, whose bubbling blue waters maintain a constant 28 degrees centigrade. In contrast, the Palladian splendour of modern-day Buxton was designed and constructed in the 18th and 19th centuries under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire. This includes the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens, and The Opera House. Today, the Opera House's full schedule and annual festivals in music and the arts continue to draw crowds to these magnificent buildings and gardens. Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton, and Edale are just a few of the charming towns and villages dotted across the landscape, and there is excellent hiking nearby, with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south. Stunning mansions like Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are easily accessible from here. An ideal location from which to discover the Peak District.

Cottage was tidy and clean on arrival and some home made scones and a bottle of wine waiting. Everything you needed was on hand or explained in guide where or how to find it! (Like Jane’s husband dropping dressing gowns of later on the Friday really kind of them) The local pub was the 19th hole was so close and the landlady Jess was very welcoming. Hot tub was lovely warm and ready to go. The holiday was lovely and we will be back. 5star highly recommend

Dogs loved it. A field just up the road to give them a walk. Friendly pub just up the road and 1/2 hour walk into town. Greta area. Good to have a hot tub after a long journey and area to hang up towels! 2 toilets so good for families too. We had two cars and managed to park one outside the house and another down the road for free for the week. Lots of places close by to visit and see!
