Guests say

Guests generally appreciate the Rock Mill Apartment for its prime location in the Peak District, comfortable furnishings, and modern amenities. The surrounding area offers excellent walking routes, a friendly pub, and a fish and chip shop. Some guests noted minor maintenance issues and suggested improvements, but the overall experience remains positive with many looking forward to returning.

The apartment is frequently described as clean, with specific praise for its spotlessness. However, there are isolated comments about stained mugs and unwashed plates, suggesting occasional lapses that prevent a perfect score.

The location is highly praised for its convenience to local attractions, great walks, and a quiet setting away from road noise. The proximity to a nice pub and the availability of a communal area are also appreciated.

Comfort is well-regarded with mentions of a comfy bed and a cosy atmosphere. Some guests found the sofa and dining arrangements a bit cramped, and there were comments about the lack of a firepit and chilly conditions near windows.

Facilities are generally good, with a well-equipped kitchen and modern amenities. However, guests have noted missing items like a towel rail, toilet roll holder, and a sufficient number of wine glasses, as well as issues with door locks and a lack of information on local sights.

While some guests mentioned the absence of a welcome pack and suggested that it would be a thoughtful addition, there is not enough consistent information on thoughtful gestures like gifts to provide a score.

We will definitely be back. Mattress extremely comfortable, furnishings tasteful and atmosphere cosy. Warm and inviting aesthetic. Generally clean but it might pay to run the hoover under the sofa more regularly, our dogs were very curious about what was under there and having looked, I wished I hadn’t. Took the shine off a bit. The sofa might also benefit from a quick hoover. Apart from that, No. 46 is conveniently placed next to the elevator at the back of the building which made toilet trips with dogs very efficient! It’s nice to see the owner has actioned some of the suggestions made by previous reviewers (coasters provided and blinds sorted). My advice to guests with long locks is bring a hair dryer. I mistakenly left mine at home and couldn’t find one in the apartment. I improvised and used the one in the boot room meant for dogs (worked a treat!) but not the height of luxury. The building is fairly new and it shows, everything is still scuff-free and tidy. My only hope is that as the years go on, the quality is maintained. We do plan to come back and would hate to see it go downhill, specially as apartments are for sale and management by a variety of owners could lead to haphazard quality. Overall really pleased with the experience and grateful to have found somewhere dog-friendly that isn’t the pits.

Only a couple of snags one being the extractor fan in the bathroom, and the other being very minimal storage space as every cupboard is already occupied, doors are extremely heavy to open and close.

We love the location of the apartment, there is so much to do within an easy distance with nice walks directly from the property. In addition to The Cupola serving evening meals on Fridays and Saturdays, they are now open every evening cooking pizzas to either eat in, or take away – we can highly recommend! Our only slight criticism since our previous stay is the number of breakages that have taken place – the apartment is down to one wine glass (disaster!) We understand that breakages happen, but the owner really needs to make some replacements. On arrival, we spent time washing all the crockery as the mugs were stained and plates had been put away unwashed. All crockery could do with being taken away for a deep clean. The lounge blind has come down and is being stored in the cupboard in the bedroom. Sitting on the settee in the evenings, directly under a window, was quite chilly. The owner just needs to address these few issues, and the apartment will be back to a 5 Star + rating in our eyes!
