About this property

A delightful, stone-built, end-terrace cottage situated in a quiet backwater of the pretty village of Bradwell, 11 miles from Buxton. The cottage is full of character and charm and retains many original features such as old oak beams and a warm and snug open fire, making this an ideal romantic retreat. Renovated to a high standard, this well-equipped holiday home boasts high quality fittings and lovely furnishings, including a spacious main bedroom with feature fireplace. The property offers lovely views across the village and surrounding fells, as well as excellent walking from the doorstep. The many delights of the Peak District National Park are close by, including the beautiful valley of Edale, which is the start of the Pennine Way, England's first and most famous long-distance footpath, and the famous spa town of Buxton. This is an ideal base for a relaxing holiday at any time of the year.

Set between the Hope Valley and Bradwell Dale, the village of Bradwell is located within the Peak National Park. Bagshawe Cavern - reached by 130 steep steps - sits on the edge of the village and serves as a reminder of its mining history whilst nearby the famous Peak, Blue John, Treak Cliff and Speedwell Caverns are all worth visiting. Also close by is the David Mellor Design Museum, positioned in the village of Hathersage whilst the little picturesque town of Castleton is overlooked by the crumbling Mam Tor, or 'Shivering Mountain'. Bradwell itself provides visitors with a range of shops, pubs and places to eat and makes an excellent base from which to enjoy this fascinating and beautiful part of the country.

The property was easy to find, private parking next to it and had a lovely welcoming pack as well as enough coffee, tea, sugar, milk to keep me going for a few days. There was also a Co-Op store a short walk away. Bradwell itself was lovely and quiet, I slept very well. Nearby roads were in excellent condition which made it easy to go from the property to various destinations in the Peak District and cities- such as Manchester which I went to twice. I found the property warm, welcoming and homely and would recommend it to couples or singles as a place to explore/ walk/ photograph the local area.

We loved the little cottage (especially the open fire when it snowed on our last night!). The village itself has everything you need. Can personally recommend the fish & chip shop and both pubs. Hope to return next year.

We hope to keep coming back as long as we can manage the steps and stairs! Thank you for the welcome gifts and fire starting pack.
