Haulfryn is a well-received cottage with guests praising its comfortable furnishings, beautiful gardens, and stunning views. The property is noted for its cleanliness, well-equipped facilities, and thoughtful touches such as welcome gifts. While some guests mentioned minor issues with road noise and mobile signal, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many expressing a desire to return.
Most guests found the cottage to be clean and tidy, contributing to a relaxing stay. However, a few guests reported cleanliness issues in the bathrooms and around the property, which slightly impacts the overall high cleanliness score.
The location is generally praised for its beautiful views and proximity to local attractions. Some concerns were raised about road noise and the walkability to the local pub, but these were not significant detractions for most guests.
Guests frequently mentioned the comfort of the cottage, noting the cosy furnishings and the warmth provided by the log burner. A few guests found the beds and low ceilings less comfortable, but overall, the cottage is seen as a comfortable retreat.
The cottage is consistently described as well-equipped and maintained, with everything needed for a pleasant stay. The gardens are particularly appreciated. Some guests noted issues with the wood burner and mobile phone signal, but these were minor compared to the overall positive feedback.
Guests were delighted by the thoughtful touches, including welcome gifts of wine, milk, and eggs. While these gestures are highly appreciated, it is noted that such gifts are a courtesy and may not be a standard offering for every stay.
This attractive, stone-built, detached cottage is conveniently situated in a rural setting, on the outskirts of Llangynog village. The village rests at the foot of the Milltir Cerrig mountain pass, in the heart of the Berwyn Mountains in Powys. Charming and full of character, this cosy cottage welcomes you in through an open porch, which leads into the well-styled sitting room with comfy sofas and a woodburning stove set in a red brick inglenook hearth. The kitchen is modern and well equipped, with a social dining area, and it also retains the original range with a feature oven and a further woodburning stove to provide character and warmth. Upstairs are two lovely double bedrooms with superb views across the valley, both offering some en-suite facilities in addition to the family bathroom, which has a bath and shower over. There is also door access off the landing into the rear garden. The property, a former lead miners cottage thought to date back to the 1820s, has been carefully modernised to retain original features where possible, whilst providing a modern country cottage feel throughout. A particular feature of the cottage are the extensive terraced gardens with many interesting plants and shrubs. Outside, the well-kept gardens to front and rear offer superb views down the Tanat Valley, and sunny seating areas to sit and relax, planning the activities for the coming days. The cottage is in a fantastic location for walkers, cyclists, birdwatchers and climbers, and a walk to Rhaeadr Waterfall should not be shirked, as it is the highest single drop waterfall in the UK. For a calmer walk, but equally as stunning, a trail leads from the cottage in the other direction to St Melangells Church, one of the remotest churches in Britain. Haulfryn is a superb cottage in a fantastic location for a relaxing break at any time of the year!

Welcome package nice touch. The advice I would let others know is if you have a dog you are restricted to go for short exercise walks as no public paths down the front. But that shouldn't put you off. And as it can be farely busy road in the day it's a bit precarious. I had to guide partner out as there is a bush outfront that can obscure what's coming round a slight bend. But I would highly recommend staying there and I would do so again.

Would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again
