The Old Reading Room is highly praised for its charm, cleanliness, and prime location in the Cotswolds. Guests consistently commend the well-equipped kitchen, cosy atmosphere, and the warm welcome provided by the host, Jules. The property's character and modern amenities blend to offer a comfortable and delightful stay, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
Reviewers consistently mention the spotless condition of the cottage, highlighting its cleanliness as a standout feature. The property is described as immaculate, which suggests a high level of maintenance and attention to detail.
The location is frequently praised for its convenience for exploring the Cotswolds, with easy access to local walks, pubs, and shops. The village's tranquillity and proximity to various attractions contribute to the high score.
Guests find the cottage cosy and comfortable, with special mentions of a comfy bed and a warm wood burner. The property's ambience and the quality of sleep it affords are highlighted as key aspects of its comfort.
The facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and modern amenities. However, some minor issues with blunt kitchen knives and dated bathroom fixtures slightly affect the score. The presence of a garden and the overall maintenance are viewed positively.
The host's thoughtfulness is frequently mentioned, with guests appreciating the extra touches such as welcome gifts and comprehensive local information. While these gestures are warmly received, it is noted that such personal touches, though likely, are not guaranteed for every stay.
The Old Reading Room is an exceptionally well presented, personal and romantic country cottage (three proposals have taken place here to date) set in the heart of this lovely and tranquil village. The cottage which itself is contemporary and light, and fantastically located to explore the Cotswolds, has been meticulously restored (and maintained) to a very high specification from what was originally the old school room where local children would have practised their reading and music. The cottage provides light, airy and extremely welcoming accommodation set across two floors, with a number of traditional features balancing out a clean and modern feel, including traditional Cotswold stone walls, with a clear view woodburner and pretty beams. Externally the property has access to a peaceful, secluded country cottage garden. The Old Reading Room is situated in the heart of Bledington, an archetypal Cotswold village with a quintessential village green, attractive stream with Bledington ducks, together with the acclaimed Kings Head pub. In our opinion this is a stunning English Country Cottage that is certain to delight.
Bledington is a small scenic village located in Gloucestershire, England. Located in the Evenlode Valley and part of the Oxfordshire way, the area is popular with walkers and outdoor enthusiasts. The village has a traditional pub, a smart village green and a parish church which dates back to the 12th century. The prestigious university city of Oxford is just under an hours drive.

Jules, the owner, was incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The cottage itself was absolutely charming and cozy, especially with the log-burning fire that made it feel so warm and inviting. The kitchen was a fantastic bonusâfully equipped with everything you might need if you wish to cook, making it easy to prepare meals and feel completely at home. There's a cute little café and village shop just across the road, perfect for a morning coffee or some treats. The whole area was so peaceful, ideal for walks, with a lovely pub just down the road. We couldnât have asked for a better place to unwind, and weâll definitely be booking again!

The owner gave us a warm welcome and provided a lot of helpful information. The cottage was well equipped and immaculately clean. When the weather suddenly turned chilly, we we happy to come back to the warm and cosy cottage. The location is perfect for exploring the north Cotswolds.
