4 The Old Smithy is a well-regarded holiday cottage in Freshwater, appreciated for its cleanliness, cosy atmosphere, and convenient location. Guests have praised the well-equipped kitchen, tasteful decoration, and the property's proximity to local amenities and scenic walks. While some minor maintenance issues were noted, the overall sentiment is positive, with many guests enjoying their stay and expressing a desire to return.
The property is consistently described as clean and well-maintained, with several guests specifically mentioning the cleanliness. However, there were minor concerns about a strange smell and garden upkeep.
The location is highly praised for its convenience to local shops, pubs, and beaches, as well as its proximity to the ferry and ease of access to other Isle of Wight attractions.
Guests find the house comfortable, with cosy furnishings and a quiet setting. However, there are comments about the need for a new mattress in the main bedroom and potential issues with bath access for less agile guests.
The property is well-equipped, particularly the kitchen, and guests appreciate the private garden. However, points are deducted for reported issues with the shower, a cracked mug, and some furniture in need of replacement.

This is a marvellous semi-detached eco-house in the village of Freshwater on the Isle of Wight. Partly powered by solar panels, it has refreshing decor and is located right in the heart of Freshwater, making this an ideal spot for a family holiday. Step through the splendid porch and enter into the rejuvenating, bright kitchen diner, decorated with calming creams, tans and mint greens, creating a soothing environment in this immaculate room, the perfect place for family meals. The airy hall leads you towards the large family sitting room, with comfortable sofas sat in front of the TV, complete with Freeview and a DVD player if you fancy a cosy, lazy day. The downstairs is complete with a cloakroom and storage underneath the stairs. Heading up the stairs finished with exquisite spiraling handrails, they lead you to an upstairs with three dazzling, pristine bedrooms and a large, classy family bathroom. To the back of the property through the patio doors is a patio area complete with contemporary furniture, a BBQ and lawned area, perfect to relax in after a long day of exploring all that Freshwater has to offer. Freshwater sits at the most Western point of the Isle of Wight. Despite being on a small island, it is a village with a whole lot to offer, including independent shops and cafes, along with more extreme activities such as surfing. Outside of Freshwater, the Isle of Wight has an whole lot else to offer. Just 5 miles away sits the oldest town on the island, Yarmouth. Full of narrow streets and passages, it is a place that holds a lot of culture including Henry VIII's castle along with an array of surrounding beaches. A stunning house set in an extremely interesting area of the Isle of Wight, most certainly a different place to spend a holiday.
Freshwater is situated at the western tip of the Isle of Wight and is home to Freshwater Village and Freshwater Bay. Freshwater village offers a selection of independent shops, cafes and the West Wight Sports Centre and Indoor Swimming Pool. The high cliffs, rolling downs and beaches at Freshwater Bay and nearby Compton Bay attract many visitors and surfers all year round. The renowned Freshwater Bay Golf Club, which overlooks the English Channel has coastal sea views from most tees and offers a day out for golfers of all abilities, whilst the area is a haven for birdwatchers, cyclists and walkers with walks to be enjoyed not only on West Wight but across the entire Isle of Wight criss-crossing over a much varied island landscape.
