It’s in the middle of the island, around 2 miles from the principal town of Newport. With an on-site restaurant, a playground and farm animals – as well as horse riding – you’ll find plenty to keep you busy on the 50-acre site. The accommodation has room for up to five people over three bedrooms, so is well suited to a family, two couples or a group of friends.

You’ll approach this converted dairy barn through an archway leading to a courtyard, then enter into a small reception hall. This leads you to the open-plan living space, a cosy area with a corner sofa for lounging, a modern kitchen and a dining table and chairs. Look out for tasteful artwork on the walls, giving a flavour of the surrounding countryside. On summery evenings, dine outside in your private garden or spend some time in the communal outdoor space, which has seating. The site heats water using solar power and harvests rainwater for a lovely eco-friendly atmosphere.

Walkers and cyclists will be keen to explore the chalk downlands, heathlands and meadows of the Isle of Wight Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (3 miles). If you’ve got children in your party, a trip to Blackgang Chine theme park (10.5 miles) will likely be popular. The seaside resorts of Ryde (5 miles) and Sandown (7.5 miles) are great options for coastal days out. At Hamstead Heritage Coast, 6.5 miles to the northwest, you can discover an impressive landscape of low clay cliffs, salt marshes and mud flats.
