Guests say

Coastguards View is a well-appreciated cottage in a stunning location with sea views, offering comfortable accommodation and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Guests have enjoyed the proximity to Herne Bay and Whitstable, the spaciousness for groups, and the thoughtful touches like a welcome bottle of wine. While some guests mentioned minor issues, the overall experience is positive, with many looking forward to returning.

The majority of guests found the cottage to be clean and well-maintained, though there were some reports of areas needing attention, such as cobwebs and dirty kitchen items. The cleanliness appears to be generally good but with room for improvement.

The location is highly praised for its seafront position and easy access to local attractions and amenities. Guests loved the walks and the peaceful setting, making it a standout feature of their stay.

Guests found the cottage comfortable, with ample space and good furnishings. However, some noted that the downstairs toilet was cramped and the property could be cold at times, suggesting that comfort is generally high but with some areas that could be enhanced.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a modern kitchen and sufficient bathrooms for guests. However, comments about the need for additional kitchen equipment, a non-working tumble dryer, and a single oven suggest that while the facilities are adequate, they could benefit from further attention and maintenance.

While some guests mentioned receiving a welcome bottle of wine and other gestures, there is not enough consistent information across the reviews to accurately assess the level of thoughtfulness in terms of gifts or additional touches. Therefore, this score cannot be provided.

We had a good time staying at the cottage. Inspite of the fact that it was less than we had come to expect from a cottage from Sykes. The cleanliness was not what we have come to expect of properties we have stayed in with Sykes Cottages. We felt the view was by far it's best asset. I realise it's heading towards the end of the season & it certainly needs a repaint all through. If they want to sell it as it's got a for sale sign outside. We felt it was looking a little tired & in need of some TLC. The Kitchen looked lovely but the didnt have everthing you might require we felt is was was very basic. Going back to the cleanliness - our daughter joined us for a few days. When I went to strip the bed off on the departure day the mattress cover had stains on it & they were certainly not from us. They looked as if they had been there from previous occupants & the cover had not been washed. There were smears on the bathroom mirrors & shower cubicles. We found bits of food on the floor too. We just felt the cleaning was standard was disappointing. We were quite disappointed & would not recommend a stay there. I felt the property was done in a manner to make money but as cheaply as possible. I would not recommend this property nor would I go back again.

We were blessed with great weather and enjoyed visits to Canterbury and Dover Castle. The food and atmosphere at the Old Neptune in Whitstable was great. Would recommend.

Kitchen could have had some more equipment. No soap in one of the bathrooms.
