Tucked away in the village of Combe Hay, at this property you can enjoy a slice of Somerset country life, with the convenience of a friendly pub serving food just a few metres away. The spa city of Bath is just five miles away, with attractions including the Roman baths, the Jane Austen Centre and its variety of independent shops. You’ll also be spoilt for choice with the variety of places to eat and nightlife here. Bustling Bristol, with an even larger shopping centre, a lively cultural scene, a science museum and a zoo among its many draws, is also only 14 miles away. Other attractions nearby include Cheddar Gorge, the Wookey Hole Caves and the Kilver Court Secret Gardens.
This charming stone cottage is approached through a gate and up a garden path, while there is another entrance via the path found to the right of the cottage. You will immediately feel at home in the large and spacious lounge, where you can put your feet up next to the wood burner (initial supply of logs provided), perhaps while listening to the digital radio or making the most of the books and board games on offer. Additional entertainment is provided in the separate snug in the form of a Smart TV/DVD, great for film nights, while there is also a desk should you need to do any work. In the kitchen, you’ll find everything you need to fully enjoy your stay, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge. This room also has a window seat meaning that socialising can still take place while meals are being prepared. There is a separate utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and hanging airer in the roof space. Boasting a beautiful antique dining table and chairs, the dining room is the perfect place to gather for meals, whether it’s a home-cooked dinner. It also has a radio so you can also enjoy some background music. Around the corner, you will find a cloakroom and WC, and there is also a utility room with storage for wet clothes and bicycles, as well as a chest freezer. Upstairs, you’ll find the property’s three lovely bedrooms. The first bedroom has great views out the front of the house, with a super-king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom, complete with a roll-top bath and a WC. Across the corridor is the twin bedroom, as well as the family bathroom, which has a bath, separate shower and WC. Up a small staircase, you will find the final bedroom, another super-king-size with its own freestanding bath.
Directly off from the snug, you’ll find the first of the cottage’s outdoor spaces, a private and enclosed courtyard with seating; perfect for evening drinks. To the rear of the house is the main garden, largely sloped and laid to lawn, with steps leading to the top of the garden and its tremendous valley views. The rear terrace benefits from a couple of steamer chairs, large teak table and 8 chairs and large fire pit. Around the side of the house, hidden behind a hedge, is a sheltered patio area; a great place to dine al-fresco. Finally, to the front of the house there is another sheltered patio with sun loungers, looking out to the village.
