About this property

In the Cornish community of Kilkhampton, only 5 miles from Bude, you will find the beautifully presented single storey chalet 21, The Glade.

The property, which may house a family of four or couples, offers a tranquil retreat or a base for exploring the area’s many beaches, walks, coastal resorts and activities.

Whilst you relax on the comfortable sofas you can plan your first culinary inventions using the fully equipped kitchen, then choose to dine inside or al-fresco on the spacious terrace.

Alternatively take a stroll into Kilkhampton village for a take-away from the highly regarded chipshop or pizzeria, or enjoy a delicious pub meal from the London Inn or the New Inn. If your taste is for Chinese food there is the Wayside take-away a mile up the road towards Bideford.

Kilkhampton is a historic settlement with archeological evidence going back to Bronze Age occupation. There is a beautiful medieval church, a butchers, a Co-op and a Spar shop

Having rested up you may wish to explore a little further afield. Within a 4 mile drive you have the National Trust beach at Sandymouth Cove (café and toilets on site) Northcott Mouth Cove (snack caravan and toilets) Duckpool Cove and Tamar Lakes Activity Centre.

Bude, 5 miles away, has Summerleaze Beach, with its famous sea pool, Crooklets Beach, a delightful canal-side walk, and links to the South West Coast Path - Bude Leisure Centre offers a wave pool, soft play area and several other activities.

Less than half an hour’s drive away you have the World famous Clovelly Village, The Milky Way family adventure centre and birds of prey show, Hartland Quay (not to be confused with Hartland Point) with fabulous coastal scenery and the aptly named Wreckers Retreat bar and restaurant, and a surfers paradise at Widemouth Bay.

Also easily within reach you can enjoy the quayside at Appledore fishing village, beautiful Instow beach, the family resort and surfing beach at Westward Ho!, Crackington Haven Cove, Tintagel (the original Camelot?) Boscastle Harbour and Port Isaac (the ‘home’ of Doc Martin).

21 The Glade can provide versatile accommodation: a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, a centre from which to explore the local area or a gateway to the delights of North Cornwall and Devon.

Four miles from the well-known Victorian beach resort of Bude, one of Cornwall's top tourist spots, is the historic Cornish village of Kilkhampton. Kilkhampton, with its historic church, charming shops, and quaint pubs, is a great location to unwind after a long day of seeing the area's world-famous beaches and breathtaking coastal landscape. Surfers from all over the nation visit Bude's beaches because, when the circumstances are ideal, it's difficult to find better surf. Miles of golden beach and several rock pools keep visitors busy for hours when the tide is out. This region is a refuge for hikers and lovers of the open countryside thanks to the South West Coast Path and numerous additional rights-of-way that wind over the clifftops and through lush green fields with views of the sea. A good retail centre, many bars, two clubs, and restaurants are available for individuals who would rather stay closer to home. Bude Canal, a designated natural reserve, runs through the town. A relaxing way to spend an hour or two is to paddle a boat along its tranquil waters or stroll down the towpath among the lovely (and amiable) waterfowl that reside among the reeds. Also, there are two golf courses, an indoor pool, and a bowling alley in the vicinity. Well situated for everything North Cornwall has to offer.
