The local area of St. Martin is close to estuaries from the Heford River and it is possible to walk from Valley View to Tremayne Quay, where a beautiful estuary, surrounded by ancient woodland is managed by the National Trust. Frenchmans Creek is also a short drive (as mentioned in Daphne du Maurier's books), and picturesque Helford Village. The Villages of Mawgan, Manaccan and Helford are all served by a local pubs - it may be advisable to check opening times and book in advance. On the estuary you can bathe and hire boats at St Anthony or towards the Lizard beautiful beaches such as Coverack, Kennack Sands, Poldu and Church Cove are convenient for family days out. Within reach is Lizard too, a popular peninsula offering you glorious sandy beaches, a picturesque National Trust area and plenty of activity for all ages and tastes to enjoy.
