... a mile from Port Navas is Calamansack, a hamlet of cottages down a private lane beside the broad Helford River, looking over it and Frenchman’s Creek to wooded hillsides and fields. Lots of birds (swans, curlews, buzzards, herons and egrets), animals (foxes, badgers). Constantine, 3½ miles. We let two cottages here. An infinitely peaceful scene, excellent for birdwatchers.

Sun terrace (table/chairs, barbecue) with steps to an acre of garden sloping down to the water's edge with own slipway and 100' of river frontage. Good-sized living/dining room with inglenook fireplace (woodburner), TV/DVD/video, superb views of the river from each window and glazed door to terrace. Fitted kitchen with slate floor, granite worktops, dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, table/chairs. Hall/utility area (washing machine, tumble drier) with door to garden. Bathroom (suite plus hand-shower and separate shower). Upstairs, three bedrooms all looking over the river – step up to the master double (5' brass bed) with en suite bathroom (suite, shower over bath plus hand-shower), another double, and a small twin (2'6" beds suitable for children under 13, zip-linkable to 5' double). Sleeps maximum of 4 adults.
