Guests say

Constantine Bay Cottage in Padstow, Cornwall, is praised for its superb location near Treyarnon beach and the convenience of nearby meals at the Youth Hostel. Guests appreciate the property's proximity to the beach and coastal beauty, making it a recommended spot for beach lovers and walkers. While some guests have had concerns about cleanliness and maintenance, the location remains a standout feature.

Several reviews mention issues with cleanliness, including unclean floors, dog hair, dead insects, and mould. These recurring comments suggest that the cleaning standards are below expectations for some guests.

The location is consistently praised for being close to the beach, the Youth Hostel, and Padstow. It is described as a marvellous spot, ideal for beach enthusiasts and walkers, contributing to a positive experience.

Comfort receives mixed feedback. While there are no specific positive comments about comfort, one guest complained about an uncomfortable mattress and pillows, leading to a moderate score.

Facilities are mentioned in terms of both positives and negatives. Guests have reported issues with maintenance, such as a broken bench and a delayed washing machine replacement, but also note the availability of good facilities at the nearby Youth Hostel.

There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness accurately. Only one mention of a welcome basket was made, which was disappointingly presented, and as such, it cannot be guaranteed that gifts are a regular feature.

However arrival at Constantine Bay Cottage was quite disappointing for the following reasons: 1. Floors hadn’t been cleaned properly- before unpacking we had to hoover the whole house. None of the corners/edges had been hoovered inc a large amount of dog hair in the main bedroom. 2. A used hair elastic was next to the main bed. 3. There was a welcome basket that contained only a used biro and a pot of drawing pins (no joke). When I moved the basket off the window sill there were dead flies underneath. 4. The outdoor area(s) clearly hadn’t been swept for a long time; covered in sand, cobwebs etc. In addition the bench seat was broken. 5. There were crumbs in some cupboards and mould running down the fridge seal. 6. Small thing - in every other self catering property we’ve always been left with a dishwasher tablet and a dish cloth. Nothing here so it was a good job I brought my own cleaning things. Our overall impression was of an uncared for property, yet charging a high price. Either the cleaners aren’t doing their job properly or they aren’t paid for enough time. It was disappointing (and annoying) to arrive and have to do so much cleaning. So, we’ll definitely be back to the Ocean Blue complex but definitely not to this cottage.
