Guests say

Sandy Cove is a well-equipped cottage in Penzance, Cornwall, praised for its proximity to the beach, comfortable furnishings, and additional amenities like a hot tub and pool table. Guests appreciate the high standard of the accommodation and the convenience of local shops. While some minor maintenance issues and a lack of clear instructions for appliances were noted, the overall experience is highly regarded, with the property offering a delightful stay for families and groups.

The property generally maintains good cleanliness, though some guests noted areas for improvement such as sticky residues and dirty utensils. The hot tub is regularly cleaned and maintained, which is positively noted by guests.

The location is highly praised for its close proximity to the beach and local amenities, making it an ideal spot for a holiday retreat. The convenience and beauty of the area contribute to a positive experience.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the property spacious. However, some guests mentioned that the living room seating is insufficient for larger groups, and the presence of stiff door locks and a lack of blackout blinds in bedrooms are noted as comfort detractors.

The property is well-equipped with a pool table and hot tub, which are popular among guests. However, there are reports of missing instructions for appliances, stiff locks, and a lack of garden furniture, indicating room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

The village of Praa Sands sits on the south coast in between Helston and Marazion. Praa Sands is known for its mile-long sandy beach and excellent surfing conditions. There is a bar/restaurant overlooking the beach – the perfect spot for lunch with a view or sunset drinks. Praa Sands is also home to a Golf and Country Club, from where the most wonderful sea vista can be enjoyed whilst you play. Just inland from the beach is Pengersick Castle, the tower of which dates back to the 16th century. It is said that Pengersick is haunted, and that the ghost of a monk has been seen wandering the grounds! The house at Pengersick is rumoured to be the birth place of John Carter, the self styled King of Prussia and a tunnel which leads from the house to the beach was apparently once used by smugglers. There are supermarkets and other retail stores in Penzance (8 miles) and Helston (6 miles).

I would’ve liked a slightly more equipped kitchen - we bought a corkscrew and left it at the property, a measuring jug would also be useful. The beds were very comfortable but one thing that would definitely improve it for me would be blackout curtains.

Family really appreciated the hot tub, pool table and the lovely beach, which is just a few minutes walk away. Children enjoyed popping to the shop, which was close enough to be safe for them to go alone. We were blessed with some good weather and the south facing garden gets the full sun. A garden parasol would have been good, therefore, as there’s no shade in the afternoon. The grass hadn’t been cut, otherwise the maintenance was excellent. Only given a 9 because of the overall price.

The 2 doors to the hall and the room to the open plan kitchen/lounge means you do not need a baby gate. The weather was a bit indifferent but the hot tub and pool table made it an enjoyable family holiday. It is close to the beach if you want to go to swim with a small shop at the end of the road for milk, bread or pasties. A couple of improvements could be black out blinds for the bedrooms and cutting the grass, which perhaps could not be achieved due to weather.
