About this property

The Old Barn, an appealing four-bedroom holiday home is located in a tiny hamlet close to the picturesque town of St Just, Cornwall. Benefitting from off-road parking, an enclosed garden and close proximity to the local amenities, The Old Barn welcomes eight guests, perfect for a large family or group of friends looking to get away from it all and escape to the Cornish countryside. After unloading your personal belongings, kick back and relax in the rustic sitting room, complete with woodburning stove so you can truly make the most of the cooler evenings. Allow the budding chef of the group to rustle up a delicious home-cooked meal in the well-equipped kitchen, before settling down at the dining table to tuck in over a cold glass of wine; or alternatively if the weather permits, venture outside to one of two patio areas where you can marvel at your surroundings a little while longer or grill a feast on the barbecue during summer months. When the sun sets in the distance, escape back inside to wash away the day in either the ground-floor shower room or bathroom on the first floor, indulging in a long soak as you get stuck into a good book. Choose from four elegantly-finished bedrooms when sleep calls, comprising of a king-size with its own en-suite facilities, a king-size, twin and a single room, each offering a sumptuous haven to catch up on sleep. In the morning, kickstart your adventures with a visit to the Botallack Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located just outside of St just, where you can walk along the rugged coastal path and soak in magnificent views of the Atlantic Ocean. Visit Sennen Cove, a beautiful sandy beach well known for surfing, perfect for those looking to try their hand at some watersports; venture to St Michael’s Mount, a tidal island located near Marizion or enjoy a scenic drive to Land’s End, the westernmost point of mainland England. Lace up your walking boots and head out on a section of the South West Coast Path, admiring the cliffs, hidden coves and coastal views along the way or discover the rugged beauty of the West Penwith Moors. For a memorable escape in Cornwall, book a stay at The Old Barn.

St Just is the nearest town to Land’s End and is situated approximately eight miles west of Penzance. The town itself is an ancient settlement that has a strong mining history and there are several monuments and prehistoric antiquities to visit including the Bronze Age settlement at Cape Cornwall. St Just is ideally located for visitors to explore the far west of Cornwall as it is situated on the edge of the moors and close to the beautiful north coast. In the centre of the town is Plain-an-Gwarry, a theatre used for miracle plays in medieval times, and in more recent times for the Lafrowda Festival.

Our little doggy enjoyed the varied levels of the garden. We struggled to get to grips with the Lamona digital touch screen oven and we couldn't find written instructions or online ones either. This proved a problem when the oven turned itself off half-way through a pot roast while we were out. Flies in the kitchen became an issue, not surprising, given the location. We happened to have a nerf gun with us which was surprisingly effective against the little biters (blighters). Future guests might like to arm themselves with an old fashioned sticky fly paper. Our old T4 coped well with the track and we can't think any vehicle would struggle to navigate the bumps. Anyone interested in history will be delighted with the secret curiosity box. This was a great place to stay, secluded and tranquil, and if we were inclined to come back to this area we would not hesitate to re-book. Thank you.

The house was very clean, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The welcome basket was a lovely surprise and Tanya, the housekeeper was very helpful and respionded quickly to my questions. The house was at the end of an unmade road which was not a problem to us but it woud be a smoother ride if it was levelled out. I would definitely reccomend the house. St Just was only a few minutes away by car and had a co-op and few shops.

A perfect getaway for me and my family, the welcome pack was a lovely touch too. The rural location was fabulous with easy walking right from the door.
