A short stroll leads to the beach and this sheltered sandy cove is perfect for sandcastle builders and beach cricketers. At low tide there are excellent rock pools in which children of all ages can fish for crabs and other marine life. For walkers the South Coast Path passes Portwrinkle on its way west to Looe and east to Cremyll from where you can take a ferry to the city of Plymouth for a day out in the city. Whitsand Bay Hotel is a 5 minute walk away and guests may wish to take advantage of the special discounted rates which apply for golf and leisure facilities (including swimming pool and sauna). The main local fishing town of Looe with its many shops, bars, restaurants and cafes is a 20 minute drive away and, from the working harbour, glass bottom boat trips, sea excursions and speed boat rides can all be booked. The picturesque village of Polperro is a further five minutes on from Looe. Built to take full advantage of its unique location, most of the rooms at Thanckes House have panoramic sea views and some have a balcony or patio doors opening onto the terrace. The property has 5 spacious double bedroom (3 en-suite) and plenty of downstairs comfortable living space for large groups. The indoor heated swimming pool is a real bonus! Outside a wide terrace with a barbecue has wonderful views; a perfect setting for a sunset cocktail or two.
