Guests say

Honeysuckle Cottage in Cornwall is a well-loved property praised for its superb location near the beach and village amenities. Guests appreciate the cosy atmosphere, the convenience of parking, and the well-equipped kitchen. While some guests mention dated decor and occasional cleanliness issues, the majority reflect on a comfortable stay with positive experiences of the local area and the property's facilities.

Most guests found Honeysuckle Cottage to be clean and tidy, though there were a few mentions of mustiness upon arrival and some minor cleanliness oversights. The overall impression is that the property is well-kept, with the owners responsive to any issues raised.

The cottage's location is highly praised, being just a couple of minutes from the beach and close to local amenities. The convenience of the setting and the proximity to coastal walks contribute to its high rating.

Guests generally find the cottage comfortable, noting the cosy atmosphere and the provision of home comforts. Some guests suggested improvements to the bedding and seating, but overall, the property is regarded as a comfortable place to stay.

The cottage is considered well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and guests appreciate the off-road parking. However, there are comments about the need for updates and maintenance, such as the temperamental TV and the front door lock, which slightly lower the score.

While several reviews mention a welcome bottle of Prosecco, it is important to note that such gestures are at the discretion of the owners and not guaranteed. There is not enough information to score thoughtfulness across all reviews.

About this property

Superbly located for touring the beautiful Roseland Peninsula, this delightful, two bedroom terraced cottage is situated in the unspoilt 13th century coastal village of Gorran Haven, just a two-minute walk from the beach. As you step into the porch and the open plan living room at Honeysuckle, you immediately feel at home. There is a kitchen, a dining area and a comfy sitting area where you can all gather after a day out and relax. Upstairs are two bedrooms and a bathroom whilst at the front of the cottage is the patio, an ideal spot to end the day and watch the world go by with dinner and a refreshing drink. Located in a valley, well off the beaten track, Gorran Haven remains the same as years gone by, with lots of old cottages nestled around a secluded cove. The bay is sheltered from the prevailing west winds and families can enjoy its two sandy beaches offering some of the safest bathing in Cornwall, making it ideal for all ages. A few minutes from the cottage on foot, not only are you on the beach, but you can also find all the facilities and amenities you need for your stay, including an excellent bakery, a pub, and a well-known fish and chip shop. With lots of major Cornish attractions close by, such as the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project, as well as the famous fishing village of Mevagissey just three miles away, Honeysuckle is an excellent cottage for a seaside holiday, whatever the time of year.

Once a crab fishing village, Gorran Haven on the south coast of Cornwall is ideally placed to explore the many beaches and coves in the area. Gorran Haven has a small sandy beach, connecting with the longer Great Perhaver beach at low tide. Much of the coastline in this area is owned by the National Trust, including the 370 feet high Dodman Point, rising above Gorran, which is thought to be one of Cornwall’s most dramatic headlands, and the cause of many a shipwreck.

A local shop that is like an Aladdins cave is just a short walk away. Next door to the shop is the pub a directly opposite is the chippy. At the end of the road is the beach , perfect! The cottage is very comfortable, and weather permitting there is a small patio in front of the cottage where you can sit and watch the world go by. The owners are ver approachable and happy to solve any problems that might arise. We visit every year and are never disappointed.
