Guests say

Homelands in Port Isaac is a well-regarded cottage, praised for its cleanliness, cosy atmosphere, and superb location. Guests have enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable furnishings, and the property's proximity to local attractions. While some minor maintenance issues and the absence of a welcome pack were noted, the overall experience has been positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

The cottage received high marks for cleanliness, with several guests rating it highly and one specifically mentioning a 10/10 for cleanliness. This suggests that the property is generally well-maintained.

The location of Homelands is frequently highlighted as a positive feature, with its proximity to the town centre and the harbour being particularly appreciated. The scenic views and the quiet, car-free environment contribute to its high rating.

Guests have found the cottage to be cosy and comfortable, with special mentions of comfy beds and a homely feel. However, some guests noted issues with appliances and fixtures, slightly impacting the comfort score.

The cottage is generally well-equipped, especially the kitchen, but there have been several mentions of maintenance issues such as non-functioning appliances and the need for a better vacuum cleaner. These comments suggest room for improvement in this area.

While some guests were disappointed with the lack of a welcome pack, which is not guaranteed and varies by stay, others did not mention this aspect. Due to the mixed feedback and the fact that welcome packs are not a standard amenity, a score cannot be accurately provided.

About this property

Homelands is a traditional white-washed stone cottage, located in the picturesque fishing village of Port Isaac. Full of character and charm, Homelands has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and has a been used as the home of ‘Aunt Ruth’ in the TV series Doc Martin. The front entrance has a small patio enclosed by a white picket fence; a lovey spot to sit when the sun is shining and look down upon the village. Walk through to a cosy living/dining area that has a large stone fireplace and electric fire – perfect for warming up after a walk along the coast. The kitchen has been finished to a high standard, with plenty of space for preparing and cooking food, and a ground-floor shower room also doubles up as a handy utility room. The two bedrooms upstairs, a double and a twin, both have a lovely homely feel thanks to the exposed beams, wooden window shutters, and a tasteful decoration. Port Isaac is only a small village but there are plenty of shops, pubs, and restaurants to keep you entertained and well fed. Within a short drive is the fishing town of Padstow, where you can sample the local seafood in some of the many restaurants, visit the beach, cycle along the Camel Trail, or spend the day at the National Lobster Hatchery. Homelands is a fantastic property for a relaxing getaway on the Cornish coast.

Port Isaac; one of the true Cornish treasures. A beautiful fishing village nestling in a steep sided valley, the old village in the valley remains unchanged from its days of fishing, slate export and smuggling in the previous century. An abundance of small character properties complemented by larger cliff-top retreats, can be found with easy access to the numerous restaurants and shops of the village. The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. There is ample parking at the top of the village.
