Pendragon House in Port Isaac is a well-regarded cottage, praised for its prime location, ample parking, and well-equipped interiors. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches and the property's suitability for families and pets. While some minor maintenance issues and cleanliness concerns are noted, the overall sentiment is positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.
Reviews indicate a generally satisfactory level of cleanliness, with some guests finding the property very clean and others noting areas for improvement, such as under beds and sofas. The presence of dog fur and a few unclean items were mentioned, suggesting occasional lapses in thoroughness.
The cottage's location is highly praised for its proximity to the harbour, local amenities, and scenic views. The convenience of two parking spaces is frequently highlighted as a significant benefit, contributing to the property's appeal.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the living spaces cosy, though some suggest additional seating for larger groups. The presence of multiple bathrooms adds to the comfort level, but there are comments about draughts and the need for better window fittings.
The property is well-equipped, with a spacious kitchen and thoughtful amenities. However, some guests report maintenance issues such as a broken shower cubicle and a non-working towel rail, indicating room for improvement in upkeep.
The provision of a welcome bottle of wine and the accommodation of pets demonstrate considerate gestures by the owners. However, it should be noted that such gifts may vary and are not guaranteed for every stay.
Pendragon House is a contemporary holiday cottage in Port Isaac, ideally situated between the old fishing harbour, and also the beach of Port Gaverne, both within an easy five minute walk. Offering stylish and contemporary accommodation, a particular feature of the property are the spectacular views that stretch out to sea. Pendragon House is the perfect getaway for a group of friends, or the whole family including a canine companion, looking for a coastal base from which to explore the North Cornwall coast.
Designed with the views in mind, the sociable living space is located on the first floor with sea views towards Tregardock from the sitting room and rural views over to Roscarrock Hill from the kitchen. Flooded with natural light, the first floor is the ultimate place to relax after a long day exploring the coast; sink down into one of the comfortable sofas in front of the open fire, or prepare a home cooked meal in the well-equipped custom-made, hand painted kitchen. The third bedroom and separate shower room are also situated on this floor, whilst the ground floor offers two generous sized bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, and the other with an en-suite bathroom and separate shower. All of the bedrooms have zip and link beds providing either super king-size beds, or two single beds for added flexibility.
Guests can enjoy a wealth of doorstep adventures from Pendragon House. Walk out onto Lobber Point and follow the South West Coast Path over the cliff tops towards Port Quin and the bays of Epphaven and Lundy - finishing up at ‘Fresh from the Sea’ café, just a stone’s throw from Pendragon House’s front door. Food lover’s will not be disappointed, with Nathan Outlaw’s Michelin Star restaurant just a short stroll away. Whilst there is so much to see and do by foot, further afield, the town of Wadebridge and the thriving village of Rock (8 miles) is well worth exploring, as are the popular beaches of Polzeath, Daymer Bay and Rock, with a foot ferry across to Padstow.

The sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools as the tide retreats. Only ten minutes drive from the beaches of Polzeath, Daymer and Rock, it is perfect for romantic and family holidays alike. Some equipment eg the toaster really should be replaced. The lack of a user manual from the owner was also a big mistake. My biggest problem with this booking was Sykes and their very poor communication systems. Providing a local office which does not have a dedicated contact line (ie not a number which diverts to Sykes head office) was most frustrating. Had there been any real problems with the property when we arrived we would have been unable to contact anyone. A prime example of modern IT platforms which provide clients with slow, sporadic remote messaging means of contact which will never replace someone on the end of a phone who can offer true customer service. I will definitely avoid Sykes properties in future.

There were a few annoying points that could easily be remedied, eg no soap/ shampoo holder in the downstairs bathroom and no loo roll holder. As the grandparents, in their 70s, in the party, we were planning to have the upstairs bedroom, but the double bed was right against the wall and inappropriate for anyone who needed to access that side of the bed. We therefore took the double downstairs but the bedside light was immediately/very close, above my head over the bed, so this bed needed to be pushed right against the bedside shelves by the wall and, the shelves had to turned round, stopping access to them. On the flip side, the views were lovely, the kitchen was extremely well equipped, the sofas were comfortable and the showers were good. It was a spacious house and we enjoyed our stay there.
