It's really close to the shops but very quiet and peaceful. We walked down to Rock harbour and Porthilly cove several times and enjoyed its proximity to the estuary. Sadly, the bungalow was very musty which made it a difficult week for me as I do have lung problems and react to damp. I was unable to sleep in the double bedroom so used the twin room which was less bad. Returning home, everything has had to be washed twice to get rid of the smell. Even though there were plug in diffusers, these weren't enough to remove the overall problem. Otherwise, the bungalow was really well stocked with everything you might need, the kitchen was fantastic and the bathrooms were both very nice. All rooms a lovely size and very comfortable.

I would have enjoyed seeing the garden in its heyday. We were so lucky with the weather and enjoyed several walks both side of the estuary and coming back to sit in the sun. The light went out one night in the bathroom but as soon as it was reported to John Bray the bulb was replaced within the hour. I also reported that both freezers were solid with ice. And we also discussed the garden particularly the BBQ seating area. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

The bungalow is lovely and spacious with comfy sofas and nice and warm. The kitchen is really well equipped for cooking. However, there is nothing provided at all, so pack salt and pepper, oil and condiments. The showers are very good and refreshing after a long day out, please note shower units not bath/showers. The bedding and towels are good quality. I found the mattress in the front double bedroom to be fabulous, but my husband didn't. Mattresses are a personal things I suppose. The bungalow is located down a short lane, the garden is great for star gazing, there is a field further down the lane too which we went to, to see the stars. The only improvement I would suggest is to address the damp/musty smell, which we thought might be from the carpet. Other visitors have noted this too. It wouldn't put me off staying here again though. I can see why people return to the bungalow, its a great property in a great location. We ate locally at the Pityme Inn pub and also at the Cracking Crab in Polzeath. The closest supermarket is at Wadebridge, locally there is a bakery, butcher and general store. A fish and chip shop at the end of the lane. From Rock there is a foot ferry service across to Padstow for £3 per person. Takes 4 minutes to cross. There are great walks around the area which we did a few of. There are two helpful books at the bungalow to help choose which to do. Tintagel Castle is not far and a good place to visit. Lots of steps to be aware of. I was suggested to look at John Bray by a friend and I'm definitely glad I asked her. I guess I owe her a bottle of wine.
