Guests say

Riverbank Cottage in Axminster, Devon, offers a picturesque setting with lovely views and a peaceful atmosphere. The property's exterior charm and location are appreciated, with proximity to a gurgling river and local farm shops. The interior provides a cosy experience with a log burner and electric radiators, though some guests noted a damp smell that dissipates with heating.

Guests have reported the need for a more thorough cleaning, mentioning cobwebs, spiders, and floors that could benefit from a good mopping. The presence of dampness was also a concern.

The cottage is situated in a beautiful and peaceful location with lovely views across fields and a river nearby, contributing to a tranquil stay. However, parking is limited.

The property offers a comfortable lounge and good beds, but some guests found the lighting poor and the house chilly upon arrival. The sloping floors and challenging stairs were noted as potential issues.

While the kitchen is equipped with an induction hob and guests found logs for the burner, there are concerns about general maintenance, dampness, and the suitability of the property for the number of guests it claims to accommodate.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owners towards the guests, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

The boys loved exploring the area and fossil hunting. Our labrador thought this was the best place ever. The local was amazing. Although only 3 nights felt like a really getaway. We will be back.

A little muddy in late October, bring your wellies ! driveway did flood during a massive down pour. A little chilly inside on arrival but electric radiators in all rooms made it very cosy and the smell of damp disappeared quite quickly. Found lots of logs in privy in the garden and the log burner in the lounge worked a little too well and we had to turn radiators down ! Lounge was v comfortable and beds good too. Kitchen had most things we needed. Farm shops provided great local produce ! induction hob which we've never used before. A lovely stay thanks to the owners for a peaceful few days in East Devon.
