Guests say

Ivy Cottage in Beer, Devon, is a well-received holiday rental with guests praising its ideal location, cleanliness, and the thoughtful welcome pack. While some minor maintenance issues and comfort concerns with bedding were noted, the overall experience remains positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

The property was generally found to be clean, with specific praise for spotlessness in some areas. However, there were several mentions of issues such as a mouldy bath mat, dusty corners, and a dirty patio set, which suggests room for improvement.

The location of Ivy Cottage is consistently highlighted as ideal and great, with no negative comments, indicating a high level of satisfaction among guests.

Guests found the cottage cosy and the quality of bedding and towels good. However, there were complaints about creaky beds, an uncomfortable mattress in the loft, and a lack of ventilation in the top bedroom, which affected the overall comfort level.

The cottage is well-equipped with necessary utensils and clean bedding. Nonetheless, guests reported minor maintenance issues such as a stiff front door, a problematic shower screen, and a cutlery drawer coming off its runners, indicating that some facilities require attention.

The welcome pack was mentioned positively, reflecting a degree of thoughtfulness. However, as not all reviews mention gifts and there is no guarantee of such amenities, the score reflects the positive feedback without setting unrealistic expectations.

Beer is a small picturesque fishing village on the south Devon coast near Seaton. The shingle beach is very sheltered, backed by limestone cliffs and was once fertile smuggling territory, plus contraband was hidden in nearby caves, which are now a popular tourist attraction. Beer is situated on the stretch of Devon coastline, known as the Jurassic Coast, a designated World Heritage Site, and the village offers sloping streets lined with picturesque stone houses and cottages built on many different levels of the steep valley sides. There are a good range of shops, friendly cafes, restaurants and pubs in Beer, plus just outside the village is the popular Pecorama Gardens, which are perched on the hill overlooking Lyme Bay. Pecorama boasts the Beer Heights Light Railway and indoor model railway exhibition, along with a children's play area. Beer is a unique Devon fishing village and a great place to stay.

    Thank you.

The bath mat was covered in black mould, the toilet I had to clean myself, and the toilet brush is disgusting, shower works ok,but is very scaled, the double bedroom had lots of dust under the bed and in the corners. Although we were disappointed with the cleanliness in some areas, we would still come back as we love the cottage.
