Pottery Barn is a well-received cottage in Devon, praised for its beautiful location, tranquil setting, and welcoming hosts. Guests appreciate the well-kept garden, cosy interiors, and thoughtful touches like fresh flowers. While some mention low ceilings and the lack of a stand-up shower, the charm of the barn conversion and the surrounding area seem to provide a delightful holiday experience.
Guests consistently describe the property as clean and well-presented, with several reviews highlighting the exceptional cleanliness. The property appears to be maintained to a high standard, contributing to the overall positive experience.
The location is frequently praised for its beauty and tranquillity, with easy access to local pubs and walks. The proximity to Branscombe Beach and the peaceful village setting contribute to the high rating, despite some comments about narrow access roads.
The cottage is generally found to be comfortable and cosy, especially with the wood-burner in colder months. However, the low ceilings in the upstairs area, particularly in the bathrooms, have been noted as a discomfort for some guests.
Facilities are well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and lovely garden space. However, several guests mentioned the lack of a freezer and a stand-up shower, which impacts the score. The issue with the TV and hot water supply were also noted.
Many reviews mention the thoughtful gestures by the hosts, such as providing fresh flowers, scones, jam, and cream upon arrival. While these gifts are greatly appreciated, it is important to note that such personal touches, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.
A contemporary barn conversion resting in Branscombe, located next to the owners property, amidst an area of natural beauty. Perfect for families or friends, this retreat boasts homeliness and charm which can be felt upon approaching the cottage, and this continues to the inside. Spend a moment or two in the sun room, knitted together with a selection of armchairs and a backdrop of the peaceful garden to keep you occupied. A step up will take you into the beautiful open-plan living area, which boasts a modern kitchen decorated in fresh greys and whites, joined by a dining table that seats up to four people. The lounge houses a cream sofa and two armchairs; a soothing place to sit back and relax in front of the TV, whilst planning out those up and coming adventures. With the addition of a woodburner, this cottage can be enjoyed all-year-round. The next floor houses a family room, comprising a king-size bed and a single, along with a hotel standard en-suite bathroom. The second king-size room presents an alternative, and the same wonderful colour scheme of the previous. Velux windows and low upstairs ceilings bring a characterful effect to the cottage, completing the interior in a stylish fashion. Outside, the shared 2-acre garden with woods has a selection of seating for you and your loved ones to enjoy. For the adventurous, Branscombe Mouth boasts a beach, and a wealth of rock pools and cliffs on the Jurassic Coast just waiting to be explored. Why not take a trip out to Sidmouth and the surrounding countryside where you'll find a great range of attractions and activities to entertain the whole family including a visit to the Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary. World of Country Life, Crealy Adventure Park, Beer Quarry Caves and Pecorama are all just a few miles away. A lovely cottage in a memorable part of Devon.
Branscombe is home to a number of historic buildings worth noting; the Old Bakery and Forge, both National Trust properties, are just some of which can be found nearby. Some may say that it adds to the quirkiness of the property, but I found it very uncomfortable particularly in the bathrooms. But overall we enjoyed our stay at pottery barn.

The only issue is not having a stand up shower but definitely wouldn't let that stop me from booking again. Our 2 dogs loved it and plenty of grounds for them to go out. Lovely log fire and felt very cosy at night and was lovely and warm. Lovely welcome with flowers and chocolate biscuits. Was close to a local pub but beach not within walking distance (unless you like walking miles) but can drive and park by cafe on the beach which is amazing. There's also a couple of paths from village to beach. Both pubs dog friendly and coastal walks to Beer and Seaton. Sidmouth and Lyme Regis not far. Fabulous â¥ï¸

We had a lovely stay in Branscombe and had many excellent walks. We particularly enjoyed walking to the beach and the Masonâs Arms. We were very happy in the cottage, the bedrooms were very nice and we loved our cosy evenings by the fire.
