Swallows Cottage in Devon is consistently praised for its peaceful and beautiful countryside setting, offering a relaxing and comfortable stay. Guests appreciate the warm welcome from hosts Jayne and Rowan, as well as the thoughtful touches like homemade treats. The property is well-equipped and dog-friendly, with many mentioning it as a perfect base for exploring the area and enjoying the farm.
Most guests found Swallows Cottage to be clean and well-maintained, though there was a single mention of dust, dog hair, and cobwebs. This seems to be an isolated incident, as the majority of reviews do not reflect this experience.
The location is highly praised for its tranquility, beautiful views, and proximity to local attractions and beaches. It serves as an ideal base for exploring Devon, with guests enjoying the surrounding countryside and farm.
Guests describe the cottage as comfortable, cosy, and homely, with comfortable beds and a warm atmosphere. There are suggestions for additional lighting and seating to further enhance the comfort for larger groups.
The cottage is well-equipped with everything needed for a stay, including kitchen utensils and secure areas for dogs. However, there are comments about dim bathroom lighting and a slow-filling toilet, indicating some areas for improvement.
Many guests mention the thoughtful gestures from the hosts, such as homemade cakes and flowers. While these gifts are greatly appreciated, it's important to note that such personal touches, although common, are not guaranteed with every stay.
Swallows Cottage has been converted from an ancient threshing barn which faces away from the main house and Whitcombe Cottage. Your sitting room is cosy and welcoming with a wood burning stove, dining area and French windows to throw open to the sunny patio on a fine day. The kitchen is well equipped for preparing the fine fresh ingredients available locally. Head up the stairs to the two comfortable bedrooms which share a family bathroom. Outside you have outdoor furniture and a barbecue on the patio and, across a quiet farm track, a small lawn with fine views. Swallows Cottage is a great base for traditional farm tranquillity and exploring the area. This property can be booked with Whitcombe Cottage (976051) and Swallows Cottage (976052), all around the same courtyard and together they sleep a total 15 people.

Our stay was comfortable and homely with everything we come possibly need. Fabulous countryside and perfect for dog walking. Disappointed that we missed the calves being born but lovely to walk around the farm and be woken by the sheep on a morning. Delicious lemon cake too! Couldnât ask for more. Thank you!
