Exeter 5.5 miles. This quaint, single-storey lodge is located in the owner’s mature grounds in the rural village of Dunchideock, a few miles outside the bustling city of Exeter. Enjoying a serene location, Detox In Dunchideock offers a romantic bolthole for couples, providing easy access to the picturesque sights of Devon and Cornwall. Follow a single-track lane to the off-road parking space, before discovering this quaint abode. The space is totally separate from the house. Several steps lead up to the lodge, passing through the owner’s flourishing gardens and greenhouses. Offering an open-plan studio layout, you’ll find everything you need in one room; the kitchen is small yet equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, plus the owner has kindly stocked the cupboards with the essentials to get you started! A homemade cake is there to welcome every visitor. Enjoy a home-cooked meal at the dining table or at one of the many nearby pubs before getting comfortable on the sofa and losing yourself in a good book. With no WiFi at this lodge, you have the opportunity to switch off from the online world and live in the moment. Step out the door and onto several scenic walks and trails crossing the countryside, just two miles away is Haldon Forest, perfect for thrill seekers, with mountain biking, zip wiring and orienteering opportunities. Riding stables are a walk away and the endless charm of the moors only a 25 minute drive away. Visit the River Teign, a wonderful sight with a chance to kayak along its waters or head to the waterfall of Canonteign Falls, a sight not to be missed. For a change of scenery, visit the cathedral city of Exeter, home to a plethora of shops, pubs, restaurants, and remarkable architecture, ranging from its Gothic Cathedral, well-preserved city walls and its 11th century castle, surrounded by the landscaped Northernhay Gardens. Alternatively, if it’s a day on the beach you desire, head to the traditional seaside town of Dawlish, which has a host of family-friendly attractions, as well as access to the South West Coast Path, which runs right through the town. Living true to its name, Detox In Dunchideock offers a truly relaxing base in Devon.
Exminster is a lovely, rural community in Devon, nestled between Powderham and Exeter. With road, rail, river, and canals passing through, this ancient village dates back to Saxon times and serves as a convenient base for touring Exeter and the coastal resorts of South Devon. Exminster's 14th-century red sandstone church, walks along the river Exe, rspb Exminster and Powderham Marshes, and Powderham Castle, a 14th-century castle rich with antiques and tapestries, are just a few of the attractions. The Royal Oak Inn, a family-friendly community pub, and Swans Nest, a classic pub grub restaurant on the edge of a nature reserve, are also good options for dining, and you can stock up at the nearby supermarket. The town of Topsham, just outside of Exminster, has a variety of pubs and restaurants, as well as maritime displays and animal exhibits at Topsham Museum, while Exeter, the ancient city, has a Gothic cathedral, museums, and art galleries. Dartmoor National Park, which offers walking, cycling, horseback riding, and other activities, is a short drive away.

Sorry we were out most of the time so could not take full advantage of the property or all the food provided. The gluten free cake and bread made specially by Judith were delicious!'
