Berrynarbor 1.7 miles. An interesting cottage on a 100-acre farm on the spectacular North Devon coast, surrounded by green meadows and overlooking the sea from its high vantage point above Watermouth Castle. Formerly the holiday home of the actor Terry-Thomas, and with a welcoming feel throughout, this quirky cottage tells a story. The ground floor sitting room is comfy while the kitchen is modern and colourful. However the focus of the cottage is sure to be the spacious first floor bedroom, with a 6’ super king-size bed and amazing sea views across the channel. The cottage is adjacent to the owners’ farmhouse but has its own private lawn with seating and sea views. Guests are welcome to wander around the grassy 100-acre farm, which also has a discreet area for camping lower down the hillside, hidden from view but with a useful shop offering freshly baked croissants to order. The cottage is a five minute walk from the coastal path, and a couple of miles from the unspoilt village of Berrynarbor, with a welcoming pub and village shop. At nearby Ilfracombe, Damian Hirst's 'Verity' statue rests above the picturesque harbour, and the bustling seafront has many good-quality restaurants and bars along with small independent shops. Explore Watermouth Castle, the award-winning Tunnels beach and Combe Martin Wildlife Park, all of which are close to the cottage. The dramatic North Devon coastline will appeal to walkers and a fifteen minute drive from Berrynarbor is the 3-mile long sandy beach at Woolacombe which holds the 'England for Excellence Gold Award' for best family resort and was voted the Best British Beach in the Mail On Sunday. A romantic retreat with breathtaking views.
The beautiful, picturesque village of Berrynarbor is an ideal base for exploring North Devon. The village is situated at the end of Sterridge Valley and is within woodlands and near farms. The village has a shop and pub serving food. The narrow streets are lined with appealing cottages, gardens and floral displays. Also dotted around the village, there are over sixty flower-pot men, which can also be bought in the village workshop.
This area lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is famous for its coastal cliffs and rugged landscape. If you are a keen walker, this area is perfect. The North Devon Coastal Path which is close to Berrynarbor offers fantastic walks and wonderful scenery.
Close by are the seaside towns and villages of Illfracombe, Combe Martin, Barnstaple and Woolacombe. This location is superb all year round.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay. Ideally located with walking routes on the doorstep. Sian is a great host .. most helpful and her family of dogs entertaining. We would not hesitate to return to this characterful home in a quiet out of the way location.

Fab view out to sea from the enormous bed. The welcome pack was very much appreciated. Would love to come back sometime.
