Guests say

Guests have found the cottage in Devon to be a clean, comfortable, and well-equipped holiday rental. Its central location is appreciated for easy access to local amenities. The property is praised for its warm welcome and extra touches, although some minor maintenance issues and a lack of basic supplies have been noted.

The property generally receives high praise for cleanliness, with multiple reviews mentioning it being 'spotless' and 'immaculately clean'. One isolated comment about unwashed mugs suggests a rare oversight rather than a common issue.

The location is consistently highlighted as a positive feature, with its proximity to shops, pubs, and transport options. The convenience of having a parking space is also frequently appreciated.

Comfort is well-regarded with mentions of comfortable beds and a cosy atmosphere. However, there are some remarks about uncomfortable settees and a hot loft bedroom, which slightly detract from the overall comfort score.

Facilities are generally seen as comprehensive and well-maintained, with a well-equipped kitchen and the bonus of a parking space. Some guests noted issues with damp smells, a faulty kitchen sink plug, and difficulties with the TV system, indicating room for improvement.

The owners are commended for thoughtful touches like tea, coffee, biscuits, and kindling for the log burner. However, as gifts are not guaranteed and there are comments about the lack of basic supplies like salt and pepper, the score reflects this balance.

Plenty of room, good quality fittings & equipment. Hot water & effective heating. Only downsides . No instructions for the TV system and previous occupiers had put on parental controls. The clear perspex small table in the middle of the lounge is too big and a potential hazard. Maybe a small bundle of likes of salt, pepper , foil etc could be supplied.

    - Lovely and clean - Comfy beds - Well equipped kitchen, with a few instant coffee and tea and uht milk sachets on arrival. - Instant response from team when we had a query. Not so Good - No kitchen basics (eg salt and pepper) so don’t forget them. There were a few dishwasher tabs is all. - A number of passive aggressive notices telling you what to do when leaving. (Strip beds and put in linen bags, vacuum any dog hair, bag up towels, leave it clean, empty dishwasher etc). And to be GONE BY 10am. It was a little excessive. I don’t know if people generally leave the house in a state, but I’ve never been harangued in advance in quite the same way. - Hot water ran out every day - and we don’t take long showers (and were only 4 people!) . I’m not sure if the boiler just needs to be on longer? It didn’t seem to reheat after morning showers, so when swimming and wanting a shower later, it was an issue. Note - we didn’t complain at the time, they may have been able to adjust something. But be aware! - I gave 5 stars as it really is a lovely house, even with the above.

I did request more than once for the zip/link beds to be separated but to no avail. Fortunately I slept on the good-sized bunk bed although it was supposedly be for children. I could feel the springs from the middle of the mattress so slept on top of one duvet while putting the other over me which was fine. We couldn’t get terrestrial TV only digital which requested a password which we didn’t have. There were no instructions either. The design of the legs on the coffee table was considered dangerous in case we tripped over so we moved it out of the way. There were no egg cups so I improvised using an attachment from the food processor.
